Roamin Catholic
So most days I cant tell if its just feeling down, or I'm downright depressed. Most days when I wake up, it takes me alot to get going, or to be motivated to do anything at all. The things that used to make me happy, don't anymore. I hardly smile, I hardly laugh. I go to work, hate my job; come home and do nothing. I have no motivation to do anything. I just kinda veg out everyday. Heck, I had the whole day off yesterday, have nothing to show for except for some groceries and a broken computer. I worry about things I have no control over right now, like money, bills, where I'm going to be a year from now. I don't like who I am right now. I've been in this funk since my wifes heart surgery last year. Hopefully I'll get out of this funk, but I doubt it. I guess what I'm saying is please pray for me folks, things ain't going so well right now.

vee
Have you been to a doctor for a physical to rule out any health related causes? Is there a trusted priest or other intelligent spiritual person you could talk to? Do you frequent the sacraments?

Lot's of people feel this way from time to time, it's normal! It becomes clinical depression when it goes for long periods of time and/or you can't function properly and it is interfering with you activities such as your work performance. If you are not on medication, don't take any unless the depression is very severe! Medicines have a high rate of worsening the problems or producing new ones and SSRI's can have catastrophic withdrawal effects. If you are taking them already, don't stop unless with your meds advice. Go to Mass and pray a lot, it really does help! I can't stress how much more prayer is better for you than anything else. Your suffering may not stop but Jesus will protect you from the worst and lead you out of it. Peace be with you!

The more the better without overdoing it or too much too soon. It releases endorphins or some similar such creatures as well as keeping the body in good tune which also influences the brain toward better function. elizabeth09
Just hang in there. Pray to God for the strength. If you have a fire place and if you have fires at night. Write a letter to God. No should see it. You should feel better after you burn it. If you do not have a fire place, then burn it on your drive way. PS make sure you have some water on hand, just in case. Edited January 26, 2011 by elizabeth09
tnavarro61
I understand what you feel, Roamin. Many phriends here know what I am undergoing through. I mope at the chat lately. I wake up scared and distracted by the thoughts that bug me, so I head to the Internet to get away from it all. But it won't leave me. I skip classes lately to spend sometime in solitude. I skipped prayer times too. But don't worry, you'll get better. I am feeling alot better now after returning to prayer, and talking to friends. Pray, pray, pray. Saint Teresa said we must pray to advance. We'll get out of depression if we pray! Go on a retreat! and I shall be praying for you too.

(I'm currently away for 4 months due to school) Another suggestion, that I'm telling you here, because I literally just thought of it -try taking Vit. D. Since you're not getting much sun, it could be part of the problem. And have you have every had a work up with thyroid and stuff? I think I've asked you that before, and I think you've said yes, but I just want to be sure.

[/quote] I'm pretty sure that's why I'M depressed, but he's had problems with it for a lot longer...but that's probably not helping matters. Particularly with the stupid weather deciding to be bad on the weekends he could come see me.
