Papist
Pope Clement VIII[1592-1605] sanctions use of coffee despite petition by priests to ban the Muslim drink as "the devil’s drink". The Pope tried a cup and declared it "so delicious that it would be a pity to let the infidels have exclusive use of it. We shall cheat Satan by baptizing it."

fides quarens intellectum
cool papal fact: Before Pope John XXIII [1958-1963], it was the norm for popes to dine alone. He found nothing in canon law to support this, viewed it as a papal punishment, and decided he would instead have guests join him for dinner when he wished. BG45
Also on Pope John XXIII, he had a sense of humor, even self deprecating at times. A little boy once wrote him asking if he should become Pope or a policeman when he grew up; the Pope wrote back that the boy could be either if even he could be the Pope. Laudate_Dominum
Pope Leo XIII and Pope Saint Pius X were addicted (assuming carrying a flask around at all times counts) to Vin Mariani, which is wine infused with a good dose of cocaine. Ed Normile
I do not know if this could be considered cool or not but it is a fact. I have been told by at least 20 different people in the last 15 years or so that I remind them of Pope JPII, this at first bothered me as he was much older than me. This was said to me by 3 priests that met him, a couple of nuns and regular catholics, those I asked said it was my blue eyes and forehead area? I do not think I look nothing like him at all, and in no other way could I ever be a reminder of him especially spiritually. ed
