Micah
you know who you are But seriously, last night someone said IDK in chat. And I just saw someone (Nick) say AFAIK. Seriously?? AFAIK?? Why can't we just write I don't know, or as far as I know. Because whenever I read those I don't spell it out--I actually think eye-dik and ah-faike. /rant
tnavarro61
the chatroom's too fast, thus the acronyms.. thus the hurry! haha so my rant is: why do americans have so many slang? whenever i type at the chat, I am not sure if what I am saying sounds obscene. (Remember the haha that became.. ) But well, that's the variety of culture. I will accept it my brothas and sistas wahoo!
HopefulBride
I feel you my friend. However my frustration comes from having to interrupt whatever conversation just to inquire about what people mean by the acronyms.

o my rant is: why do americans have so many slang? whenever i type at the chat, I am not sure if what I am saying sounds obscene. All English speakers have a lot of slang. It began with the overlap of English and Latin, and English and French. Scholars employed bits and pieces of these different languages where the English was inadequate to convey the proper meaning. It sort of assumed everyone spoke nominal French. Then England colonized 1/4 of the world, which led to a whole bunch of language mixing. Then in the modern age, English was adopted as the de facto language of international relations. So English has become somewhat of a malleable language.

All they do is shatter the English language and make everyone sound like ten year old hipsters. (I do say lol though..)
