Scholastic Works On The Liturgy

I know that there's The Spirit of the Liturgy, some Church documents, and The Organic Development of the Liturgy by Alcuin Reid, but are there any others like on the appropriate music or architecture?

I've heard of the collection of books on the liturgy from Liturgical Press, but I'm not sure which of those are actually worth it.

Does the Pope count as scholastic? :|

Yes, he does.

Then Spirit of the Liturgy is awesome. :) I learned a lot. It's easier to get into and understand than Jesus of Nazareth was.

If you like those books here are a few to consider.

Classics

Liturgy and Architecture, by Louis Bouyer
Bible and the Liturgy, by Jean Danielou
Eucharist, by Louis Bouyer
The Mass of the Roman Rite, by J. A. Jungmann
The Early Liturgy, by J. A. Jungmann
The Reform of the Roman Liturgy, by Klaus Gamber

Some good stuff

Looking at the Liturgy: A Critique of its Contemporary Form, by Fr. Aidan Nichols, OP
Any of the CIEL Proceedings volumes (esp. "Liturgy, Participation and Sacred Music" per your question above)
Thomas Aquinas and the Liturgy, by David Berger
The Bugnini-Liturgy and the Reform of the Reform, by Laszlo Dobszay
The Restoration and Organic Development of the Roman Rite, by Laszlo Dobszay
The Development of Liturgical Reform, by Nicola Giampietro
Banished Heart: Origins of Heteropraxis in the Catholic Church, by Geoffrey Hull
Work of Human Hands: A Theological Critique of the Mass of Paul VI, by Fr Anthony Cekada
After Writing: On the Liturgical Consummation of Philosophy, by Catherine Pickstock (not everyone's bag, but I like it)
Looking Again at the Question of the Liturgy with Cardinal Ratzinger, by Alcuin Reid (ed)

P.S. If you're interested in sacred music you'd probably like the Church Music Association of America, also Fr. Robert Skeris has some classic essays on sacred music that you might like. Anyway, don't want to overdo it with ideas. Peace.

NLM loves writing about architecture. I'll bet you could find some good books over there.
These would by my personal recommendations for architecture.

1. Liturgy and Architecture, by Louis Bouyer
2. Reform of the Roman Liturgy, by Klaus Gamber
3. Turning Towards the Lord, by U. M. Lang
4. In Tiers of Glory, by Michael Rose
5. Catholic Church Architecture and the Spirit of the Liturgy, by Denis McNamara

Ideally they'd be read in that order (more or less order of publication). And yeah, no doubt someone at NLM who loves the subject of architecture would be better for recommendation. My interest in teh liturgy has been pretty general and all over the place.

Are there any good books that focus on the Eastern Catholic liturgy?
Yeah, lots depending on what your interest is. First to come to mind are Hugh Wybrew's book, "The Orthodox Liturgy," and a number of works by Robert Taft and Alexander Schmemann. Most of all there are many excellent books on the Eastern Liturgy from a mystical-theological pov. If your interest is modern scholarship I should point out that many books on the liturgy in general discuss the developments of the east quite a bit.

This was brought to my attention recently and should be coming out shortly:

The Liturgical Commentaries: St. Symeon of Thessalonika

But I had in mind Schmemann's "The Eucharist Sacrament of the Kingdom" and Fr Jean Corbon's book "The Wellspring Of Worship." I imagine St Vladimir's Seminary Press has a decent offering, might want to browse their site.

Here are some more books on the liturgy that have not yet been mentioned:

-- Architecture in Communion, by Steven J. Schloeder
-- Celebrating the Holy Eucharist, by Francis Cardinal Arinze
-- Reform of the Reform? A Liturgical Debate, by Fr. Thomas Kocik
-- The History and Future of the Roman Liturgy, by Denis Crouan
-- The Liturgy After Vatican II, by Denis Crouan
-- The Liturgy Betrayed, by Denis Crouan
-- The Mass and Modernity, by Fr. Jonathan Robinson
-- The Old Mass and the New, by Bishop Marc Aillet

L_D has probably read more of these than I have and so can tell you which ones (if any) are "must-haves".
