CatherineM
We've been watching Pacific. If I fast forwarded through all the violence, I'd only get opening and closing credits with an occasional sex scene.

rkwright
I recently watched the pacific series. I think the violence is pretty brutal, but I imagine that is exactly what it was like. Considering it was based off of Sledge's diary, I have no doubt that many of the scenes (the trophy scenes) are accurate. It is much more brutal than say Band of Brothers or Saving Pvt. Ryan. BTW I saw the girl with the dragon tattoo. It was a pretty good plot line, but the whole rape scene early on - COMPLETELY unnecessary. It added nothing to the movie/plot line at all. MithLuin
Yeah, I thought it was a very graphic rape scene, but not gratuitous. The whole point of the movie is victims getting some poetic justice and fighting back against monsters....so she had to be portrayed as the victim first. I chalked up the graphic nature of the scene to the fact that it was a Swedish film - different rules. I have also just rewatched Boondock Saints (thanks to a discussion of vigilantism over on the Debate Table) and I love that movie. I do wish they didn't curse so much in it (they earn the R rating in I think every scene), and I wish they didn't flub up the scene at mass in the very beginning. I've never seen the sequel, but I must say, the original is a very well done movie!
