Brother Adam
I would recommend buying the Ignatius Press edition (above). It is only $15 on their website and includes forwards by people like Father Frank Pavone. You can also listen to a recording of her podcast online. She has been as high as #9 on the amazon best seller list. Let's get her story up to #1.

Brother Adam
I am reading the book now. Hard to put down. Her story is going to surprise everyone - pro-lifers and those who are pro-choice. She does not try to vilify either group, shares what we both have in common, and shares the mistakes we have both made. Yes, she is clear that the truth is that abortion is wrong, and shares her witness, but this book does not just "bash PP", like I thought it would. It is actually much better than that. I hope everyone gets a chance to read it.
homeschoolmom
Don't forget to request that your library systems buy it. Often times libraries *want* people to request purchases. Our library will only purchase books published in the last year.
Brother Adam
I am half way done. I have had to put the book down for several things today, but should be done by the end of the night. This is a life changing book. I will never think of Planned Parenthood or their staff and volunteers the same way again and this change the way I pray for the unborn and all victims of abortion, not to mention how I approach pro-choice people. There is a story about a nun you will not want to miss either.
Brother Adam
Finished it. A few things that I learned - - Many people who volunteer and staff PP do not fully understand what they are doing, and many are even opposed to abortion and find it reprehensible. They really believe they are doing the same thing we try to do as pro-life people, and in that we actually have much in common. Yes, there are very evil people in the PP structure, but they need our love more than our anger. - The least effective method of pro-life activism is to use images of aborted babies, or react by screaming or in anger. This type of extremism can actually seriously harm our efforts. After all, if you were a frightened, pregnant 15 year old girl, who would you walk to, the friendly face of a PP escort, or the man in a grim reaper suit screaming at you? Many PP workers respect pro-lifers who take a calm, prayerful approach, even if they disagree with us. It helps them realize that we care about women too, and gives less weight to PP arguments that we are just extremists who do not care about women or families. - The most effective method of impacting PP workers is prayer and relational ministry - not different than any other evangelization. Befriending not only the women in crisis, but PP staff. Abby mentions that receiving a card and flowers from a pro-life member praying at her clinic had a lasting impact on her. When I realized it was her that was being written about I was for a second paralyzed because I was too excited to focus! Befriending not only the women in crisis, but PP staff. Abby mentions that receiving a card and flowers from a pro-life member praying at her clinic had a lasting impact on her. [/quote] I was vaguely aware of the book, but first saw it when we went to some friends' house for the Superbowl. I heard that a friend of their's wouldn't buy the book because she said Abby was extremely defensive of PP people on her facebook page (which I haven't looked at, so I can't personally judge). From my thumbing through it, the book itself looked like it had a good message, but some stuff from the intro seemed a bit weak. (It was along the lines of "there's right and wrong, truth and deception, and wisdom on both sides of the fence" and about how "the other side" really wasn't that different from the pro-life side.) I'm certainly not going to condemn Abby - at least she's pro-life now - but I don't know if I can ever really agree with the whole "the other side's not really that different from us" attitude, as that seems to seriously trivialize the whole abortion issue. Whether or not you believe abortion is in fact the murder of an innocent child should make a huge difference in how you view the issue. If we see it for the evil it is, we will not have a tolerant attitude towards it. I don't regard the difference between "pro-life" and "pro-choice" as insignificant. I remain convinced that most ignorance about abortion is willful (or at least a deliberate avoidance of looking at the issue directly), and I fail to see how anyone who claims to be opposed to abortion and find it reprehensible can support, let alone work for, an organization they know performs countless abortions. Abby herself claimed to be originally pro-life. You'd think she'd at least do some research about abortion, before happily signing on after hearing the cheerful words of a PP recruiter. It seems there's an incredible amount of idiocy, blind denial, and self-delusion out there. We do need to pray for these people. We do have to remember to respect people on "the other side" as persons, yet I do not have, and never will have, one iota of respect for the "pro-choice" position. There's no "wisdom" in it. It's at worst willful evil, at best willful idiocy. Anyway, glad this woman has now seen the light (at least partially), and that she is encouraging others to do the same. Deb
I did read this book and it was good. I have to say that I feel very sorry for the people that work for Planned Parenthood. As with this author, I have a feeling that many people who work there and many people who claim to be pro-choice are people who have either had an abortion or assisted a friend or family member in getting an abortion. The hardest thing for a woman, once she has had an abortion is living with herself. She has to be pro-choice or she has to admit she murdered her own child. Women who do not know God do not have the same mind set going in to an abortion, but I believe that in their very souls, they know what a horrible thing they have done. The author did put more of a human face on people who work there, but I can't believe that anyone who really knows and loves the Lord could work there.
