I guess I was just hoping it was an anti-government radical.
We don't have enough back bone for that in the U.S.A. : ) God rest all those that passed today. BG45
They're doing the Sheriff's briefing now, he was talking about the dead, and was mentioning the federal judge who died, "He began today, like he began every day, going to daily Mass down at the Cathedral downtown". I deplore the violence and killing; the victims and survivors are in my thoughts, hopes, and prayers. I hope they may have the help and peace they need. But I can't help but suspect he may of been a product of neglect. Where were the social sensors to detect/handle the seriousness of these issues and the social barriers to prevent him from getting a weapon? So this young man had to go shoot people to get the attention he needed, ruining other peoples lives and his own, it makes me weep. Ed Normile
Of course this has to be a case where the shooter is mentally ill. There is no other reason for anyone to randomly kill another human being. This man needs to be treated humanely and receive help, and he needs to be incarcerated or institutionalized until he dies of old age. ed

Jesus_lol
In what i hope was a complete coincidence, Gabrielle Giffords was one of the ones named in a recent political ad of sarah palin's, where the "problem people" where noted by a crosshairs gunsight on their district. "prescribe us the solution" on another version of the ad. Edited January 9, 2011 by Jesus_lol

CatherineM
There are some things we learn in law school. You'd better hope someone you threaten or target doesn't get hurt or killed. You'd better hope nothing happens to your spouse if you are having an affair. Finally, never drive an expensive car if you are a visual minority. "solve our problem" too many politicians and political analysts/reporters/writers make thinly veiled threats, or suggestions to violent solutions these days. it simply should never be tolerated. Our society, moreover American society, does not host efficient and effective medical care usually... moreover in regards to mental/emotional health. Partially I suspect because the brain is still a mysterious enigma
