An Amazing Feeling

As of today, we are completely debt free. We have been so blessed. Our 5th anniversary is next weekend, and it was our hope to be able to be free by then. The flood this summer put us back some, and I didn't think it was going to happen, but I got a royalty check today that put it over the top. My husband just sat stunned for awhile. There's a bottle of bubbly on ice right now.

That must be wonderful! I am truly happy for you. I listen to this radio show occasionally, the host has a deal where he has people who have accomplished this scream out at the count of three, I'm Debt Free, its amazingly uplifting to hear the emotion in these peoples voices, you can feel their joy as if it were happening to you. I dream of a day when I am not overburdened by stressful debt and the confiscatory rates the lenders charge especially on credit card debt. I got deep in debt when my son joe was born with an illness and we had to cover his expenses, they do not help you until they break you, and I have not been able to recover for the fourteen years since. It has really been tough these past two years as I am a self employed contractor and I had to use credit to pay rent and feed my family at times to survive.

You have really made my day, good work and congratulations !!

The older I get, the more I appreciate Dr. King's quoting of the old spiritual - it fits so many situations - "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I'm free at last!"

Royalty! You mean you were actually able to do something and get paid without Youtube confiscating it and directing royalties elsewhere?

Yes, I begrudgingly get royalties now. The contracts for the first printing of my book went to a fund to publish the works of people with schizophrenia. I didn't want to profit from basically the worst thing that had ever happened to me. When it went to the second printing, I had to sign new contracts, and with a lot of friends and family telling me that I needed to be paid for my work, I agreed. I don't remember what printing it is on now. It is very popular in Malaysia and India for some strange reason. It's a very Catholic book, so why it would be popular with Hindus or Muslims? I'm told that if I was willing to fly around to do book signings there, I could become very wealthy. I think the whole thing is silly.
