YMNolan
So there's this movie called The Rite coming out starring Anthony Hopkins as an old Vatican exorcist who is tutoring a young, skeptical priest in the ways of spiritual warfare. It's - of course - based on a true story. Sound's like it could be cool but we're talking about Hollywood here. Could turn out to be anti-Catholic and filled with errors. Plus, it is a horror movie, the main point of which is to scare people, not present Catholic teaching. So anyone hear anything good or bad about it? Excorcist movie + Anthony Hopkins = Dread. The book is supposed to be really good (on a Catholic level as well). We'll see how it goes when it's turned into the movie.... But, I'm terrified none the less.
Maximilianus
I hope it does the book justice. Edited January 6, 2011 by Maximilianus

The trailer does not look like it takes the subject lightly, and Hopkins, who plays the experienced exorcist, looks to be a very believable and serious character. Could be good. I liked Exorcism of Emily Rose.
Papist
I'll wait until it is out on Netflix. Just don't trust Hollywood. Edited January 10, 2011 by Papist

tinytherese
I'm too chicken to watch exorcist movies or horror films in general. I remember Life on the Rock showing a clip of Emily Rose and it scared me.
BG45
I've heard the book was great, and from the trailers it looks like they took this somewhat seriously at least. I'm hoping it's good, already the glimpse at one main character's struggle with skepticism about the reality of evil is tantalizing as a plot hook. DrewATX
Wow. I was really excited about this movie, as usual with exorcism movies and anything to do with the "darker" side of the Church. Fascinating to me for some reason. but i was not aware of the book. so thank you. im definitely going to the bookstore today!
ThePenciledOne
This looks really good. I think The Exorcism of Emily Rose, brought about a new trend in possession movies on this vain, which is sorta a mixed bag for the better. I will probably see it when it comes out. kujo
I think it looks pretty boss. But only because Anthony Hopkins is incredible!

Sarah147
I don't believe in getting tangled up in horror movies, even exorcism movies. It can and has led people into a fascination with the dark side, occult, new age, etc. Plus what all that fear can do to your faith! No, thank you. AudreyGrace
I saw it last night, and loved it. It gets kinda intense at some parts though, so be warned. But it did to Catholicism justice, especially compared to other movies I've seen.
