Luigi
Something small - small enough for a purse or pocket - that reminds them of the event... maybe it has a symbol on it or.something A retreat ought not to be a concert, nor a marketing event, nor a fundraiser, nor an advertising opportunity, nor.. nor... nor... Go with something small but meaningful.
Ed Normile
I like those catholic coins, you know the things that look like a coin usually made of pewter with either saints pictures on them or a saint and a small prayer or the one that says I am a catholic in case of an accident douse me with holy water. They are great to throw at protestants too!, really leave an impression. ed

AudreyGrace
I bought my purity ring at a youth conference at FUS 2 years ago. Wear it every day. EXCEPT I just lost it while I was baking the other day... I have no idea where it is! Please pray to St.Anthony that I find it soon... my finger feels naked, and my friends are starting to ask ridiculous questions.

Mercy me
Conferences and retreats are two different things. Selling any of those things at conferences is great. I don't think that things should be sold at youth retreats. I prefer to give something that is connected to the retreat to as a tangible reminder of the retreat and a way to bring their faith into the world in which they live. God is not only found at retreats. To that end, if the patron of the retreat was saint Terese you might look at making a string of sacrifice beads like she used to bring home. [/quote] Please understand that there are MANY adult chaperones and Youth Ministers that would like to PURCHASE something for their teens in addition to the special Sacramentals and Catholic Prayerbooks that are provided FREE to all participants. We have Conferences, Events (ie concerts) and Retreats. When a retreat is held, the retreatants are allowed in the shop only AFTER the final Mass with their parents, and of course they want cool stuff to show that they are on fire in Faith! this is NOT a pushy, commercialized thing or any kind of fundraiser...just an opportunity to have "fresh" and traditional Catholic items available because we have NO Catholic stores within many many miles. Living in a heavily Protestant area of the country, it can be extremely difficult for Catholic young people to express their identity. Thanks for letting me explain the reason for this poll. God Bless you for your concern for our precious young people!
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
I find that people who sell CD's often forget to include chant music and CD's along with their Matt Maher's etc. This in general is the music that I connect best with, the chanting of the psalms. Luigi
"we have NO Catholic stores within many many miles. Living in a heavily Protestant area of the country, it can be extremely difficult for Catholic young people to express their identity. " That does change my perspective some - if there are no Catholic stores in the area, then a retreat as a point of Catholic purchase makes some sense... and you emphasize the after-the-event rule... I hadn't considered that you might be in a heavily Protestant area...
