popestpiusx
There is a group that I belive is in union with Rome. The main sect of Copts have been in schism for about 1600 years I think. Maybe not quite that long, but quite a while in any case. So it depends on which group you are talking about.
CatholicAndFanatical
thanks pius for the reply. I think it was just in general no particular Sect was mentioned. Im in this debate with someone, and I said something like before the schisms there was only the Catholic Church. Then he brought up the Syriod (sp?) Church in Antioch that was started by St. Peter and left it to Eusiabus (Sp?) and then to Ignatius. Sorry I cant spell..im sick and I dont feel like going back to the post and reading it again heeh. im sure you get the picture. anyway, he mentioned that they can trace their roots back to the St Peter, which is right. And as for the Coptic Church, I did some reading today on them and found out that they hold much of the same teachings as us. They have Popes, Bishops and Priests and they even Hold Mary as the Mother of God. The only thing I seen was the obvious, they didnt hold to the Bishop of Rome as having authority. My reply to him was that even though they were around too, and hold much of the same teachings, that just proves the prot churchs even more wrong, because two ancient churchs hold the same teachings, the new guys screwed em up after 1500AD. thanks again. God Bless
