Solemnity Of The Mother Of God

I'm a little confused and I was hoping for someone to clear this up for me. I read on a respectable website that since the feast day of the Mother of God fell on a Saturday or Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated (done away with or annulled). But, then, I saw that my Church has Mass times set up for tonight (Friday) and tomorrow morning for the feast day. I was a little concerned since I don't want to miss a required Holy Day. I am planning to attend Mass Saturday night because I have to work on Sunday for a contract position and since I need to do something tomorrow morning, I cannot attend unless it's required. Is Mass attendance for the Solemnity of the Mother of God required or not? Thanks!

It's a holy day, but not a day of obligation. Our parish has Masses scheduled as well, since it is still a holy day and many Catholics will still want to attend.

Gracias! That puts my nerves at ease. I was so worried that I was wrong. Like I said, I'm planning to go to Mass tomorrow night and I am also planning to go to Confession. :)

I might be going to a Latin Mass.

I almost decided to go to a traditional Mass today, but now I'm about to walk out the door to the local parish Church. Alas, I am too sleepy.. :P
