Ads On Animal Abuse Are Killin' Me...

Hello,

The Hallmark Channel has been playing animal abuse ads with the saddest images and songs (Sarah McClaughlin). They are killing me. Does anyone else here find them impossible to watch? I just get so sad at them and want to cry.

It makes me sad that I don't quite get that response at the Cross. Though, if I were there in person, I'm sure I would. The Passion (Mel Gibson) had an effect on me.

Any thoughts?

i weep because those same celebrities against animal cruelty are for abortion of a human child. that is the sad part.

There's something about an animal suffering that always effects me, even more than most human suffering. In the movies, for example, I won't watch stories about animals, especially if I know something is going to happen to the animal. The death of a beloved dog makes me cry, while I can folks murdered in movies without batting an eyelash.

Part of the problem is that we've become desensitized to human death. In movies, characters are killed without much thought or style- it just happens. In video games, people are shot and killed without any care. On the other hand, a human death can be presented in a very serious, moving way, that will likely evoke the proper emotions. A lot has to do with the presentation of the death/suffering. If it is done without much thought, it won't evoke any emotional response from the viewer.

Animal suffering/death is almost always presented as bad/attempting to evoke emotion from the viewer. Human death rarely is presented that way in film.

Well I doubt anyone is pro-abortion. But that's a whole different subject.

Remember to donate to ASPCA, not PETA. PETA contributes to the killing of thousands of animals every year.

well, you do have the rare intellectually honest person like Camile Paglia who admits that abortion is the killing of a child, just that the rights of the mother supersede that of the child.

PETA and ASPCA usually fight it out for donations in regards to helping animals. PETA obviously gets the brunt of celebrity support. Unfortunately they do a lot more to harm animals then they do to help them.

How sad. They already lost my interest when they began using naked ads, putting animals above people, denying any kind of animal use. It really puts humans down.
