Luigi
I'm going to Little Italy tomorrow - I'll probably have the thin sliced roast beef with gorgonzola on Italian hoagie (au jus on the side) and a beer, then walk a couple blocks to the best bakery in town and get a pastry covered with cinnamon sugar. But I might get the hot salami & coagulated milk with onions & olives instead of the roast beef with gorgonzola. It'll just depend on how I feel at the moment. CatherineM
I've got 50 lbs. of turkey in the oven right now. New Year's Eve party is going to be BBQ turkey sandwiches. Turkeys were a gift from the homeless shelter because we entertain so many schizophrenics.

[/quote] Oh the fun I could have recombining the words in your post: Schizophrenic turkey sandwiches? Schizophrenic BBQ - what is that, sweet BBQ sauce on the top and tangy BBQ sauce on the bottom? Entertaining schizophrenic turkeys (for which I can come up with at least four meanings)? Homeless turkey sandwiches? But any way you slice it, 50 pounds is a lot of turkey! CatherineM
One turkey is done, second one is in the oven. Hopefully it will all get eaten. Sometimes there are guys who won't eat for fear that the food is poisoned. My husband has never had that problem though.
Luigi
So. The place was PACKED - no room for the six of us. Fallback plan - three blocks down there's another good Italian deli. I got the hot salami & mozzarella with onions, olives, pepperoncinis, and vinegar & oil. Then to the coffee shop for a high-octane Americano with an oatmeal & cranberry cookie. Next stop, the Mom & Pop grocery shop for pasta (to be prepared at a date to be named lated). Last stop, the news stand for four italian magazines. All in all, a good lunch run. CatherineM
When my leg is better, I'm going to head to little italy for some mortadella. There's a place down there that makes it right in the back. Maybe some polenta and robiola coagulated milk. I hate being trapped in the house. It's not screaming 'creativity,' but there's something to be said for predictability.
