IcePrincessKRS
When I lived in Korea I had a friend who had her shoes made because she had such tiny feet. I laughed at her and told her when she moved to the States she'd have to buy children's shoes.
Maximilianus
When I was a kid I had to shine my dads combat boots, nowhere near the production and flare that these gentlemen displayed. It involved a rag, a can of black polish, some water and lots of waxing on, waxing off...that experience came in handy later in life. Ooh Rah! I'd never do it to my leather shoes, but thats what they do in the army with a few minutes before parade.

I would just spit shine my boots and then just brush shine them to keep the shine(that's what I do now with my current shoes). In garrison we were not required to have glossy boots, thay had to be cleaned and at least buffed, the glossy shine was just bonus squared awayness...In boot camp we were issued leather shoes, most guys replaced them with the shiny corfram (synthetic leather) shoes that didn't need to be polished. I actually used my leather shoes, but I think I eventually broke down and got the corframs. I think the Coprs phased out black leather combat boots and replaced them with the brown and tan suede boots that don't require polishing...heck, if you buy the anodized brass buttons, and belt buckes you don't have to polish those either, looks like the military put a damper on Kiwi and Brasso sales.
That's kinda lame dude! Polishing boots is a skill every man should have I think. Plus, real leather owns synthetic.

Sarah147
lol I just like using the smilies. I think it would be relaxing to have it done. Nothing beats having your hair brushed and fussed over when it's long.
IcePrincessKRS
I don't think any branch of the US military has boots that require shining as part of the uniforms anymore. Matt was in one of the last classes to be issued BDUs and shortly after he graduated Basic they switched to ACUs. Shoe shining is practically a lost art. It's still big in the Canadian military, and I suspect all the European armed forces. They got style right? Most of the youtube videos on boot bulling are from American and British troops all the same. After spending two hours on my new shoes for the theatre tonight, I began checking out other guys shoes. And yeh, everyone had nasty cracked black shoes. Plus they were wearing jeans with their suit jackets? C'mon guys!
