Hello! :)

Belated Merry Christmas!

I'm curious to know how many here put up a manger for Christmas. And how does it relate to your seriousness of the Faith (super-uber devout, average, etc)?

God bless you.

Exactly! And I'm very serious about it; Jesus goes in the manger on Christmas Eve. The Three Wise Men start far away and get closer and closer until Epiphany.
:blowkiss: I love Christmas!

Yes. I tend to make my advent wreath and my nativity the center of attention on my christmas decorating.

Christmas just got started  at any rate, this is the first year we did because we haven't had a manger in the past. :)

We put one up every year. I'm not sure how it relates to the "seriousness" of my faith, though. I did manage to set it up so it's the first thing you see when you walk in my front door... I find that it's a really wonderful thing to use when talking with the children about the birth of Our Lord. I think it helped put the whole barn-manger thing into perspective for them.

I couldn't find mine this year!
But I have a beautiful statue of Mary kneeling and praying. And I had just gotten myself a statue of St. Joseph holding baby Jesus, so I put them side by side in the spot where the manger usually goes. It looks nice I think.

I do have a fisher price nativity in the front hall :-)

I will tell you my favorite nativity stories. We have a big one at church, and as the Christmas season continues, the 3 wise men get moved closer each week until they "get there" on Epiphany. I find them creepy. Kind of like one of those horror movies where every time the camera moves away and back, some doll in the background has moved closer. I swear, I can see them move out of the corner of my eye. A couple of years ago, on a January 1st, I was on that side of the altar to get the hymn board down to change the numbers. As I was walking back to the other side, I thought I saw them move, looked over my shoulder at them, and promptly missed the step, and sprawled myself across the floor with an enormous clatter as the board went flying too. Everyone came running, priest, nun, choir. At least it was so early that no one else was in the church yet. After that, the rumor started that I fell because I was still hung over from New Years Eve stuff. The fact that I don't drink, and was in bed at 10pm that night made no difference on the rumor. It was all the fault of the three wise men.

I guess it's Christmas Day- Midnight mass time(ish) :) Anyway, it's just such a beautiful way to share with friends and family the meaning and reason for Christmas!

Ours is in our prayer room (the first room you see when you come into our house), in the same place we had the Advent wreath. The nativity set goes up Christmas Eve, baby Jesus is placed Christmas morning during Morning Prayer, and the wise men are making their journey down the stairs - they plan on joining the party by Epiphany. :)
