here is a fan blog:

There are a host of pics and exploration of potential philosophical ideas from the upcoming movie. The cinematography is going to be spectacular.

and a track list for Alexandre Desplat's compositions:

The Tree of Life Tracklist
Lakeshore Records
May 24, 2011

1. Childhood
2. Circles
3. Clouds
4. River
5. Awakening
6. Emergence of Life
7. Light & Darkness
8. Good & Evil
9. Motherhood
10. City of Glass
11. Fatherhood
12. Temptation
13. Skies

very simple stuff, but Malick always seems to have a fresh and deep vision of things.

a good article from a Brit film writer:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/apr/21/terrence-malick-david-thomson

"He may be the only film-maker working now to whom the word "magical" can be applied, yet in nearly 30 years he has directed just five films. He has a degree in philosophy from Harvard; he taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; he has published a translation of Heidegger's Vom Wesen des Grundes. He has a reputation as a recluse, whereas in reality he is a charming, amiable fellow happy to talk about a wide range of topics – but not film. . . .

What can one say about The Tree of Life? Just that for nearly 40 years it has been apparent that Malick might make a movie that could alter our understanding of what cinema should be. This may be it. But it hasn't opened yet."

I read Malick's translation of Heidegger's Essence of Reasons. It was an amazing difficult book. And only about one hundred pages!!!

The hype for this movie is unbelievable. It is turning old disillusioned film critics into giddy school children again. And why not. I dont know if anyone has seen Malick's last film The New World. It was slow, but there were some sequences in that movie with Pocahantas that were sincerely transcendent, even revelatory about life, creation, suffering, maturation, the beauty of it all. They have a healing and almost life-altering effect. Almost. This is what I love about his movies. And he isnt stodgy and arrogant like other auteurs. He is genuine and fresh.

So hopefully he will deliver one for the ages with Tree of Life.

I think it opens at Cannes Festival next week. Reviews should start popping up on imdb, which will be interesting, but I will be careful about what I read, because I dont want to be spoiled for this one.

I finally found the official website of this film launched by Malick this month:

http://www.twowaysthroughlife.com/

very beautiful little clips with a very brief commentary. Interesting stuff.

I also learned today that an underlining theme of the movie is based on Thomas a Kempis' writings of nature (fallen) vs. grace in the Imitation of Christ. Fallen nature embodied by the Father and grace embodied by the Mother.

Neat stuff.

I am a huge Malick fan! I do not find Malick's movies boring at all, especially TRL! I am pumped out of my mind to see this one!

the piano music is by Alexander Desplat. He is the bigtime soundtrack composer these days.

One thing I've noticed in the initial clips and trailers is that walking out of doors into the open seems to have some symbolic value for Malick like freedom or love.

I watched this trailer in the cinema (much better with surround sound), was not familiar with Malick and his work, but since you say that his movies are philosophical, I'm in!
