tnavarro61
Chain symbolizes SLAVERY, while cord means SIMPLICITY. Any comments? Suggestions?
MIKolbe
Christ was refered to as a slave (doulos) many times in Scripture.
TeresaBenedicta
I've never seen anyone wear one on a cord before, nor have I heard the symbolism behind it. I wear mine on a chain- a gold medal and chain for work and silver at other times. I also have, erm, been 'branded' with the back of the miraculous medal. *cough*
SoonerCatholic
I wear my medal on a chain, but not for any particular symbolic reason. I just like the way a chain looks. I have seen some people at my parish who wear a large miraculous medal on a long blue cord, but I have not asked if there was a particular reason for that. YMNolan
I've only seen it on a chain. Don't have one myself though.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
I normally wear a St. Benedict Medal on a chain. Chains to me seem to relay more a message of strength than a simple cord does. This is why I prefer metal chains to cords.
tnavarro61
I am quite hesitant to wear it on a chain is because people think I'm being extravagant. Hmm, wait a minute, why should I think of what people may say? I think I"m gonna wear it on a chain now

The rosary beads that make up the Rosary are on a metallic chain, what does that tell you?
Mr.Cat
I've read that a blue ribbon cord was first used to represent a special childhood to our Lady. If you consider this option, I recommend considering the quality of ribbon cord and knots used. Edited December 16, 2010 by Mr.CatholicCat
CatherineM
Mine is the bottom of the cross on my four-way. I wear it on a chain. Not to be symbolic, but rather just practical.

Micah
I've never seen one on a cord, but if I had the choice I'd take the Miraculous medal on a chord.
tnavarro61
is there a difference between a cord and a chord? hmm Anyway I haven't worn my medal yet.. Got to ask a priest to bless it first, and it's on a chain.
