MissyP89
Let me start out by saying I really, really hate Planned Parenthood. They are everywhere and get money from all kinds of places. I know that many people choose to boycott those places that support PP, and that's certainly praiseworthy. I've had to make some changes to my Christmas list for friends who refuse gift cards from certain establishments. But my question is, is it mortally sinful to make a purchase from a business that donates to an immoral cause? For example, my father works for a company that donates to PP. If you're making a sweeping statement, you could say the roof over my head is therefore kept up with immoral funding. But then there's me. Am I in mortal sin if I buy the wrong brand of coffee? I'd prefer an answer from our clergy, but any help is welcome and appreciated.
CatherineM
If it makes you feel any better, it used to drive my dad nuts too. His Union automatically deducted money from his paycheck to give to the United Way. I'll now turn this over to one of the guys.
cappie
Unless there is a clear direct relationship between the decisions of the consumer and the evil, there is no mortal sin. Because of this, I think the blame goes to the individuals making the decisions, not the consumers.
