A Few Prayer Requests

Hi All,

I would deeply appreciate it if you could find some time to pray on behalf of these people. Thank you so much!

My mother, a widower, is a the full-time care-give for my disabled sister, and she is an at-home mother for life because of this. Her income comes from social security and what my father was able to leave her when he passed away. Her health insurance is a meager policy, but up until recently it's not been an issue. She recently went in for a mammogram which should have been completely covered, but they mixed up which policy she is on and she now has to pay something like $200 out of pocket, which is almost what she pays each month for her insurance in the first place. One of my other sisters, who is more knowledgeable on these matters is trying to help our mother sort it out, but this whole incident has kind of finalized my mother's mindset of, "I don't care if I'm dying or not, I won't go to the doctor for myself because it's too expensive." And she's terrified of the unfamiliar, and refuses to utilize health care services that could get her free care, because she doesn't know them. Please pray that my mother's current insurance issue would be worked out before they make her pay for something that her policy doesn't really require her to pay on, and please pray for her to put these matters in God's hands, and to just get herself to the doctor when necessary. My sisters and I will do everything we can to help her and sacrifice for her; please also pray that we'll be able to make a difference for her.

Please pray for my husband, who is overseas until some time in January. He has done so well in keeping his chin up during this time away from his family, and I cannot begin to express how much we miss him around here. Please pray for his safety overseas, and that he would have a safe journey back home to us. Please pray that he would arrive home to us before our daughter is born in February. Please pray for all of the men and women who are serving their countries, be it in a war zone or elsewhere.

My sister-in-law lives in an independent-living home for mentally and physically disabled women, but last week their house was destroyed by a fire most likely caused by an electrical short. Thank God, no one was home at the time, and my SIL is actually visiting family in Florida. Unfortunately, her cat was in the house at the time and died. Five women live in the house, but fortunately all have family to go home to, though plans to rebuild their group home are already under way. The house is a complete lost cause, with half of it literally burned completely away. Everyone who lived there is insured $10,000 for their losses, but that doesn't count for the loss of the comfort of their home away from home, their now deceased cat (who was just amazing to them), and any of their personal affects that held sentimental value. Please pray for my SIL and her housemates, that they would find comfort during this stressful and painful time, and that they would have families who are happy to have them back in their homes while their group home is rebuilt. Please pray that Clyde, their house cat, did not have to suffer more than necessary and for him to have passed quickly.

Finally, an update on 4 year old Angelina (Lena), who has cancer. She has finished radiation therapy, and has gained back a bit of weight after a few weeks of having a feeding tube put in. This upcoming week is full of scans and a bone marrow assessment, and after that she'll be re-admitted to the hospital to begin her next round of treatment. Her mother writes that she has been in much better spirits lately, stronger, and responding well to all her treatments and therapies. Please pray for their family, that Angelina would remain strong in mind, body and spirit, and for her mother to do the same. Please help for their family, which also includes four more siblings, a father and step-father, to hold tight to one another and to help each other ease the strain that cancer can create for a family. Please remember to pray for all of those who are dealing with illness in their lives or the lives of a loved one.
