Advent

I love Advent. It is all about the end, which is a new beginning.

The readings focus on the some of the major events and realizations of the End Times which lead the Church into the future eternal world-age of the New Heaven and New Earth.

I live for these things.

Truly a beautiful season to start fresh! I can't get enough of our Lord's words from Luke 21:33 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." It just blows me mind away!! :shocking:

From St. Teresa of Avila's The Way of Perfection,

O my God, Word of the Father, Word made flesh. For the love of us, You assumed a mortal body in order to suffer and be immolated for us. I wish to prepare for Your coming with the burning desires of the prophets and the just who in the Old Testament sighed after You, the one Savior and Redeemer… O Lord, send Him whom You are going to send… As you have promised, come and deliver us! I want to keep Advent in my soul, that is, a continual longing and waiting for this great Mystery wherein You, O Word, become flesh to show me the abyss of Your redeeming, sanctifying mercy.

O sweetest Jesus, You come to me with Your infinite love and the abundance of Your grace; You desire to engulf my soul in torrents of mercy and charity in order to draw it to You. Come, O Lord, come! I, too, wish to run to You with love, but alas! my love is so limited, weak, and imperfect! Make it strong and generous; enable me to overcome myself, so that I can give myself entirely to You.

Advent is my favorite time of the year. I like think about how, since the Lord of the Universe became matter, matter itself is glorified; the very physical world around is us is made magic, in the truest sense of the word, by the Incarnation.

Also. The very best Advent music, and I stress that its Advent music, none of this jingle-bell heresy, is by Future of Forestry, without any doubt.

yes after the general resurrection and general judgment the first heaven and first earth pass away, and God creates a New Heaven and New Earth.

The words of Jesus and all of Sacred Scripture never pass away since Jesus is God and by virtue of inspiration all the words of Sacred Scripture is Jesus speaking to us.

So Creation is yet to be completed and fulfilled in the plan of God,
but the words of Jesus and all Sacred Scripture are complete though some are yet to be fulfilled.

Advent is an incredibly special time for me. My son's birthday is often within Advent (his birthday is today). I entered the Church during Advent (11 December 2004). I got married during Advent (17 December 2005). It is, therefore, one of my favourite times of year.

It's true! If I hear another secularized, p.c, commercialism-driven uninspired banal jingle on the radio, I'm calling the Inquisition.

pretty amazing.

I like the liturgical shift. Feast day of Saint Nicholas, my name. Above all the eschatological focus.
