Ed Normile
I would like to ask all here to take a moment or two each day to pray for the souls in purgatory. I hope to be one of these souls some day and it would surely please me if someone were to pray for my soul. Its a good practise to say an act of contrition when you pass a cemetery, offer it for the these souls. The requiem prayer is indulgenced to help release souls from purgatory. Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen Tradition has it that these souls cannot pray for themselves, so that leaves it up to the family and the faithful to help these souls join in the light of God. ed

Archaeology cat
Eternal rest grant unto them, Oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen

I am so not saint like that I doubt I will ever get to go right in to heaven, I think I am setting the bar high enough hoping to make purgatory, and to rely on the grace of the good catholics to pray my way into heaven seems my best bet for now. Who knows maybe I will be lucky enough to receive an undeserved portion of Jesus Divine Mercy like a Hail Mary pass from heaven delivered into my hands from the ultimate quarterback of forgiveness. ed

LOL. Great title for Our Lord. It should be in a litany. Remember to dance in the endzone. And cheer whenever our side gets an interception. I smile everytime I remember a passage in "Mother Angelica's Answers, Not Promises," about when she received a letter from a man who had purchased a satellite TV setup primarily so he could watch porn. the letter ended with him writing, "I never expected I would be watching a 70-year old nun on satellite TV! God sure is sneaky!" She said in the book, "Yes! God is sneaky!" She recounted how she read the letter our loud to her nuns, and the rejoicing it prompted. That's what the Kingdom of God is all about. ~Sternhauser Edited November 28, 2010 by Sternhauser
