My Dad - Lost His Fight Yesterday

Recommended Posts

To those of you who know, earlier this year my Dad was diagnosed with leukemia. He was in for the past 3 weeks for chemo and developed pneumonia. Yesterday evening, after suffering complications from being placed on a ventilator, and suffering irreversible damage due to blood loss, my father passed away. Fortunately, myself and my mother, as well as his siblings were able to say goodbye together, before he was removed from the ventilator.

Thank you phamily for all of your prayers during this time in my life. I have been absent for much of the last few months because of all the time spent helping my father during his illness. I love knowing that you guys always welcome me back with open arms.

Please pray for us as we learn to live without his presence in our lives.

I'm so sorry. Give yourself plenty of time to grieve, and don't try to be brave. I'll have a mass said for him.

:amen: Amen to that.

You are in my prayers.. I could feel your pain.

Az, my heart truly aches for you. I hope it helps you that you were able to say good bye, I lost my mom, she was sick and dead within four days and I did not get the chance to say goodbye, at least she did not suffer long. I can tell you from experience that you never really get over the loss, the pain lessens though with time. I know another thing you will discover, you never really lose them either, they will show up in the things you say and do even in the things your children or siblings do. You will see an action or gesture or maybe say something and it will bring back a vivid happy memory of your parent.

The one thing that really helped me was the words of Jesus from the Beatitudes, " Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen

I pray heaven may be his bed, and that you and yours will receive the comfort that Jesus promised.
