Mickey's_Girl
LOL! Crusader, you're just trying to mix it up again! Or have the last word, one of the two... We should all be modest, in whatever direction. Wearing proper clothing, not objectifying others--it's all part of it. And let us be reasonable: there is, to a certain extent, a *cultural* influence on what constitutes "modest". For instance: pants on women used to be considered immodest. But then, hundreds of years ago, men wore skirts...which one is "right"? Some things on the "modesty scale" change. Obviously, some things do not (bikinis, hee hee hee). It is not possible for a woman to read the minds of every male she encounters. She must do her best, try to use common (uncommon?) sense, get the counsel of godly people, and trust the Holy Spirit to tell her when she's gone too far. Let's put the shoe on the other foot. Most of us, I think, have heard the idea that men lust physically, while women "lust" emotionally (or perhaps "covet" is a better word? envy?). What do you think of that? And what about the responsibility of men in not inducing that emotional lust? But that never seems to get talked about... MG

pinstripes
So basically, unless exercising, I should tailor how I dress because men cannot control themselves? Have to love the double standard here. And cmom, your post is right on!
My apologies... Little did I know what I was saying, when I attempted to state reasons why men fall into lust. I did in no way mean to say that it is not a guys fault. It is a guys fault for allowing himself to fall into lust because of how he is looking at a woman. Men have eyelids and they should close them if they have to. Next time I feel like hearing it after putting my foot in my mouth, I’ll make sure to start a thread. Thanks guys. cmotherofpirl
Looking is a separate act from lusting. You can admire someone who is beautiful and appreciate God made them that way, which is different than lusting over them. Lust is a choice. And showing off one's nakedness is a choice too, a bad one.
Sojourner
Let's put the shoe on the other foot. MG
Personally, I think lust manifested in women is a lot harder to define, both for men and women. I'd guess most people don't talk about it because they don't really understand it. In fact, I've heard a lot of talks about lust as men experience it, but I've only heard a couple of brief mentions about lust as women experience it. pinstripes
once again, critisized for not being 100% specific in my explanation, assuming people could think for themselves. this site doesn't show much compassion in it's debates... goodbye
