I think it starts back up after the holidays. I kinda lost interest after the first 3-4 eps. Did it get better?

Not to get off the subject, but yes it did pull you in and was worth the watch. Can't wait for it to return as well.

Quite the opposite, in my opinion. Far from the typical zombie survival flick, this show is investing a great amount of time and energy in character development. Instead of relying solely on elaborate set pieces that allow them to showcase the extremes of the genre, they writers have attempted to create dynamic, complicated characters who are struggling to make ends meet in a post-apocalyptic world. And while there's only been 4 episodes, I imagine that this attention to characterization will continue in the future, offering us the opportunity to emotionally-invest in the wellbeing of the central characters, a prospect that is entirely unique in nearly all zombie lore.

And while the stereotypes are there, I think that you'll see that what we perceive isn't going to be what is the truth. An example is the wife--she came off as cold and detached, not to mention shaddy, after shacking up with her husband's best friend.
But once it was revealed that she thought he was dead because the other dude told her he was, she didn't seem so awful anymore.
It's a slowly evolving process, much like we saw in LOST, where the definition of "Other" was constantly changing and the "bad guys" were continuously being revealed as less-than-nefarious.

In other words, give it time. There are 2 more eps in the season and I bet you'll enjoy the way it ends. I'd suggest you pick up the comics...they're pretty awesome, too.

+1 on this. I'm amazed how good this show is turning out to be. We almost always get the typical zombie flick that relys so much on the gore aspect of it and the character development is just the filler. This show is the exact opposite. There is so much character development that the zombie scenes are the fillers. I love it. And the network has already requested another 12 episode (i think) season 2. NICE!

I also just started reading WORLD WAR Z. Anybody read it?

Yeah, I was losing interest too in the beginning, but stuck with it. It got a lot better IMO at the end. Definitely left me wanting more.

BTW... found out that V returns the first week in January!

I love the gore aspect. No zombie flick or show is complete without it. And this show certainly has its moments--the gut-smearing scene, all the head shots, that crawling torso. But it doesn't rely solely on those set pieces...there's a tremendous amount of character development and emotionally-dense sequences.

Love it.

Walking Dead is obviously turning into a "well it wouldn't work for anyone else, but it will for them because it fits the plot"

Example: The Blonde lead bellowing over her (un) dead sister while everyone else is pitchforking bodies. Of course she fires a gun as loudly as possible, only after being smeared with zombie blood.

Example: Well society has gone to croutons, but let's just check out the CDC, I have a hunch there's something there. Of course everyone agrees, despite that being a bad decision.

Poor writing.

Frank Darabont just fired the entire writing staff, apparently I wasn't the only one upset about it
The Walking Dead writer/executive producer/director Frank Darabont has let go of the writers on the hot freshman AMC series, which has already renewed for a second season. That includes Darabont's No.2, writing executive producer Charles “Chic” Eglee.

Writer turnover on series between seasons is commonplace but wholesale overhauls are unusual. Darabont is looking to forgo having a writing staff for the second season of Walking Dead altogether and assign scripts to freelancers.

Darabont, who hails from the feature world with The Young Indiana Jones as the only series credit before Walking Dead, ended up writing 2 of the first season's 6 episodes of Walking Dead - the pilot and the second episode - and co-writing/rewriting the other 4. Two of those 4 were written by non-staff writers, one by executive producer Robert Kirkman, on whose comics the series is based, and one by Glen Mazzara. The freelance model is employed by the Starz/BBC series Tourchwood, which in turn borrowed it from the U.K. where the show originated.

Am I alone in thinking that if you're on a rooftop surrounded by zombies and one guy starts threatening people looks unstable that you kill that guy? Especially if he starts pointing weapons?

I noticed she flipped the switch to "extra loud" on the pistol. Who uses that switch, anyway?
