IgnatiusofLoyola
EWWWWW! HOW COULD YOU THINK I WOULD WEAR THOSE THINGS!?!?!? I never knew you hated me like that, Iggy! That's cold!
Well, it did seem VERY out of character for you to wear Ugg boots, but I couldn't figure out how farmers fit in, and I thought you were talking about Ugg boots. You're right, I should have known that you would never wear Ugg boots, even if your father bought them for you. Remember, that none of our conversations in the past have never concerned footwear (except maybe the wearing of white socks with sandals or black shoes by Dominicans--my only concern about the basic sanity--or at least fashion sense--of the Order. Just as I would never wear Ugg boots, I would also never wear white socks with sandals or with black shoes.) However, over time, I have found that my own opinions on footwear are often the opposite of everyone else's, so I have learned to be open-minded, even if women I otherwise consider sane do things like wear spike heels or show other signs of insanity. So, my apologies--I obviously misunderstood your sentence. However, I do not feel so guilty that, as a mortification, I will wear white socks with black shoes when I go out later to buy food for my cat. (And, it's too cold for sandals, plus it's raining). I have my limits. And, I am obviously not planning to become a Dominican any time soon, much as I respect the Order.

However, the inconsistency of the statement in your post above makes me worry about your judgement. You have made several public posts (which I can probably find if I thought it was worth the bother), in which you acknowledge the intelligence of women, especially and including your wife and family. I seriously expect Addie to take over the world by the time she is old enough to do so. (For the time being, she is practicing on your family.) Can you seriously say that you are smarter than Addie? I don't think so. (Perhaps you know more because you are older, but with regard to basic intelligence, I would have to say "No," based on what you have posted about her.) I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you were on drugs or had just woken up from a nap when you posted this. I will not resign as President of the MIKolbe fan club due to this post, since it was a one-time error (as far as I know). However, to quote you from one of your public posts, "Chicks are dope." And, if Addie is crying, I hope Shea reminds her that it is YOUR fault! Sheesh, how mean is that--making Addie cry because of a post that I made that Addie had nothing to do with. It's not Addie's fault she's so awesome she's going to take over the world. She probably doesn't even know yet. I own black knee socks in several brands and styles (winter and summer and all that) and that has never happened to me. Well, if you wear white socks with black shoes, at least you will fit right in when you go to Nashville to visit your Sister sister.

OOOOh! HAHAAAAAA
No, dress shoes are just fine in the kitchen. On the 50's TV show "Leave it to Beaver," that's what Beaver's mother June wore all day, along with her always spotless dress. Although, interestingly, although we saw June in an apron sometimes, I don't think we ever saw her do any housework other than perhaps putting the food on the table. (In case you never saw the show on Nick at Night, the Cleavers did not have a maid, so the assumption was that Mrs. Cleaver took care of all the household chores in her spotlessly clean dress, without a hair out of place and her ever-so-comfortable dress shoes and stockings). Of course, if emulating television's fantasy of what life was like for the average person in the 1950's is your ultimate dream, then I'm sure you'll love dressing like Beaver's dad Ward. I don't remember ever seeing Ward not wearing a dress shirt and tie. (We may have seen Ward once or twice in his bathrobe and PJ's, although I could be wrong. However, I don't think we ever saw Mrs. Cleaver in her bedtime attire.) In the evening, after working all day in a suit and dress shoes, Ward "relaxed" by wearing a cardigan instead of his dress jacket, and put on 50's style slip-on slippers. If this is your fantasy life, in your lovely cardigan, tie, and suit pantaloons, I'm sure the women at your school will find you irrestible. (You will need to cut your hair, too, while you're at it.) I suspect you'll have LOTS of time to study. Edited November 14, 2010 by IgnatiusofLoyola
