tnavarro61
and I looked at the Travelocity, and it says it's 564 dollars from CA to San Angelo TX. Now how easy it easy to earn that amount of money? Is 6 months enough? and my, that 564 is one-way only! That's why I am also inquiring about jobs in the USA! (and i hope I am not becoming like the maiden who counted the chicks before the eggs hatched!) well at least I am ready before I go!
Sometimes (often?) a round-trip ticket is the same price or cheaper than a one-way. And it really depends on what kind of job you get. I'm from the midwest, so I don't really know about California's job market, though.
TeresaBenedicta
and I looked at the Travelocity, and it says it's 564 dollars from CA to San Angelo TX. (and i hope I am not becoming like the maiden who counted the chicks before the eggs hatched!) well at least I am ready before I go!
Ticket prices vary, but I'd say that's a strangely high price. I'm 'ticket watching' for a trip out East (from Oregon to Maryland), and I'm looking at around $150 each way, so around $300 round trip. The day you choose to fly usually effects ticket prices. For example, flying on a Friday or Saturday usually means a higher price. But flying on a Monday or Thursday is usually lower. Same thing when you purchase tickets. For whatever reason, Thursdays always seem to have the lowest price offers. So I just checked travelocity for a roundtrip from Oakland to San Angelo and found tickets starting at around $370. Buying tickets about a month or two in advanced also helps bring the cost down. For example, what I just searched was the same dates that I am planning to go out East-- the third week in January. So that might explain why it's cheaper. As for how easy it is to make money... Hm, that really depends on how much work you're able to get. Minimum wage is around $8 per hour, I think... If you were able to find a full-time job at that rate, you'd be good to go in only a week or two (but then again, if you had a full-time job, you'd have to worry about getting vacation days and all that jazz). If you're working king of under the table, taking random jobs here and there, you might make more than minimum wage and be able to earn enough for ticket faster. But it all kind of depends on what you're looking to do.

Chiquitunga
well I think I got it wrong, $500+ is round trip. I searched for one way ticket, and it's around $300. Come what may!
Hiya, tnavarro61! Good morning/evening for you! So I was doing a little more research on this the other day .. and yeah, that's around the price I kept getting .. about $500 roundtrip, depending on the day though. And those are some great tips from TeresaBenedicta But anyway, I wanted to let you know .. so I was looking into direct flights to San Angelo. The only airline that flies there is American .. and I tired a bunch of cities and it seems they only come directly from Dallas-Fort Worth. Then I found this to confirm it, http://www.sanangelo...me/location.php (on the bottom) So if I were you I would look into getting on a direct flight to Dallas first .. as some of these options on travelocity have you making a stop or two/changing places first. But American and United fly directly to Dallas-Fort Worth from San Francisco. So anyway, that's how I'd look into going instead .. although the airport in San Francisco may be a little far, but maybe you can get a ride. Anyway, this is far in advance, but if you can buy your ticket early, it'll be cheaper. Oh also, it's probably not worth it then to look into Southwest .. as they fly into Dallas Love Field (and they have you making a bunch of stops also).. so you'd have to get a shuttle to Dallas-Fort Worth. One more thing, you might try http://www.aa.com/ along with Travelocity or Orbitz, etc. Sometimes if you get the ticket directly from the airline, it ends up being cheaper .. and you could go American the whole way here. Anyway, just some suggestions .. One more thing (<-- did I say that already ) here's the plane that goes from Dallas - San Angelo. It's a Turboprop At7. I know I'm weird, but I often take the kind of aircraft into consideration when I'm going somewhere. I don't like small planes (including regional jets) myself, and have only been on two before. I've flown on one of these once and it was okay .. not too bad really. Anyway, there are smaller ones .. Okay, ttyl! God bless! P.S. Have you talked with the hermits in Christoval yet? They look like a beautiful community! Oh and about jobs, I would ask about that in Open Mic. You'll probably get some better responses there .. Edited November 6, 2010 by Chiquitunga

Thank you for this info! I would save this link on my Yahoo! Bookmarks so that this thread [and your posts!] won't get lost! Our immigration papers are already approved and we're just arranging some complexities in the process. Please pray for us! Pray for my vocation as well, I have described what happened to my vocation in another thread (it's the How did you know thread). I have emailed the community a week ago (I think email is a bad idea) but now I feel I am not ready to discern again. But really, I would see to it that I would be visiting them soon! Maybe God is calling me there, we don't know... well that's discernment! God bless you!
