havok579257
Haha I'm sure the Pope has done things much worse then blowing bubbles, I'm sure we all have. Being in a position of authority means you need to even more aware of your emotions. The police woman standing next to Officer Bubbles was laughing it off, reacting appropriately. Instead Officer Bubbles makes a national fool out of himself. I'm sorry but I'm not going to go around stringing people up for being "unchristian" just because they were being mildly annoying.
and once again you completely take things out of context. i never said string the person up, did I? I said why is every person who acts unchristian towards the cops given a free pass in these threads? a person does not get a pass for acting unchristian just becuase she is not a cop. also, show me where the pope was being unchristian to someone, was asked to stop and then kept it up? I await your evidence.

Also, you caught me, I have no hard evidence showing that the Pope acted at one time or another unchristian or childish, I was only relying on the premise that he is a human being. I will flog myself accordingly. Edited October 19, 2010 by Semper Catholic
HisChildForever
classic case of people twisting the facts to fit their hatred of the police. the report says she was not arrested for the bubbles but for other things. absolutly classic from some people on here. lets twist the facts about someone being arrested for bubbles being blown. classic twisting of the facts. also i love the fact that people can be jerks to the police and nothing is said about that. i guess when it comes to acting christian, well that only applies to the police. bystanders are allowed to be jerks and unchristian right? MichaelFilo
What about the case is out of context. She got arrested for having an number on her hand, having a backpack, and wearing a bandanna. That hardly is a reason to arrest anyone. Beyond that, police, because they are legally permitted to use the force of the state (actual violent force and detaining free people) they must be held up to a great scrutiny. We are very careful what kind of people we make priests because of the powers granted them. The same should apply to those who have the legitimate force of the state in their hands. KnightofChrist
If I go up and poke a pitbull with a stick and then the dog bites me, should I blame and be mad at the dog? I'm sorry but that is often the case with anarchist protesters. They purposefully do things they know will irritate and interfere with police duties, then cry like babes when their arrested. The protesters at G-whatever summits are often themselves violent, and little things can set off the violence such as blowing bubbles, and then next thing you know the anarchist protesters are rioting. But that is likely the polices fault as well they should be allowed to riot and destroy property. And I'm sorry but we do not live in a Police-State, neither the USA or Canada is a Police-State. It is an grave insult to those who live and die in actual police states to say that. Nazi Germany was a Police-State, Communist Russia was a Police-State, Communist China is a Police-State, Iran is a Police-State. In those nations if you speak against the government you are murdered, and your families and friends are even murdered. I challenge any anarchist or dimwit who thinks that the USA or Canada is a police-state to go to an actual police-state and say the same things and do the same things you do against the USA or Canada and see how long you last without being murdered or thrown in prison without trial. The fact that those railing against the Police-State in this thread (and the many others like it here) have not been dragged away in the dead of night is evidence that this is not a Police-State. Give me a freaking break. EDT: Anarchists have always been the cause and tool used by Dictators and True Police-States rise of power. Just something for you to chew on.
Blanket statements about anarchists are not real rebuttals to what you saw. Oddly enough, in a free state people may protest. We don't live in a police state? What about the Patriot Act, red light cameras, the IRS, the latest sale of X-ray vans to police departments (yes, vans that can see through buildings.) What do you make of the president now having the power to order the assassination of American citizens ? (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/07/world/middleeast/07yemen.html) What do you make of the US when we put Japanese in internment camps? The US has steadily grown into a modern day police State. They happen gradually. Hitler didn't come in a vacuum, he had foundations in the previous governments own police force. The USSR didn't just spring up a police force over night, the tsars had one too. It happens gradually. It is no defense to say some other police states are worse. A true Constitutional republic would have severe limitations on police, not severe limitations on people in relation to police.
