What do you want to do with your history major?

I became a librarian with my history major--then worked as a consultant. History is a good major because it helps you understand the present time much better--it puts the present into perspective. Plus, it is a combination of sociology, anthopology, psychology etc etc. (I never paid much attention to the military stuff--I was more into how people really lived). Also, history is a major that teaches you to write.

As a history major, I've been able to carry on intelligible conversations with business, English, humanities, political science, philosophy, and anthropology majors. There is no denying it gives you the most well rounded education. Whereas an English major must be able to write, a history major must be able to write, research, and critically analyze documents while retaining detailed information of the past. (To Joyful) It provides alll sorts of options! I can be an archivist, an editor, a curator, political advisor (with time), professor, or municipal historian. Most importantly, it allows and prepares me for writing the LSAT. I don't necessarily want to be a lawyer, but there are specialized fields at UBC law such as immigration, international relations between China and Canada. We'll see what happens.
