Deeds, the Catholic Herald and the Catholic Times also had reviews.....I've still got all the papers - if you didn't get them and would like a copy of the reviews PM me!

RandomProddy...was it an ethical choice not to have a TV? I'm increasingly using the 'off' switch....now if I could only just cure my addiction to a certain soap!
It was partly an ethical decision (we have no Tv license) and partly for the fact that Tv is a waste of time.

You didn't get the memo? Disabled people have less value than able-bodied people until they are born.

I'm glad there showing the truth about abortion. I mean, they show live births, open heart surgeries, etc.......but hide abortions? Why? That's the real question......
What does the abortion industry say? What does Planned Parenthood drill into our schools? It's just a "blob of tissue" !!!!

Funny how many ppl can stomach Freddy slicing ppl up, :freddy: and have them and thier kids watching trash like that and worse but when it's real........

"HOW DARE THEY!"

double standard. <_<

I'm all for this. Ellenita, is there a link you can PM me? Or send me copies of the newspaper clippings? Pm me. Thanks!!!!!

God Bless.
This week there will be a programme on TV in the UK which will show an abortion. The 'results' of a seven week and twenty one week abortion will also be shown. The programme has been made by a pro choice person.
The bishops have given a very mixed response to the programme being aired on TV, one saying for example, it should not be shown because 'abortion is abhorrent to all catholics', while others apparently think that it could make people more anti abortion.
Do you think it should be shown? Would you watch the programme?
Chances are that if it were made by a pro-abortion person then it is going to be glorified and made to look like a good thing. I very seriously doubt that it will truly depict all the procedure and it's effects in their true context. And the UK tends to be pretty liberal, so I say that this can't be anything but bad.

Actually it's had very mixed reactions Frozencell.

You are right that the abortion shown was very early term so it was easier for the filmmaker to argue away the fact that this was a human being, but the programme did show pictures of a 21 week abortion and this is the first time these have been shown on TV in the UK. Also the doctor who calmly said he "carries out abortions in order to protect the rights of the baby" he is aborting, graphically described tearing the limbs apart in the womb "because it would be too unpleasent for the nurses and the woman to do it outside". For many people watching the programme this may well have been the first time they heard the reality of what abortion actually is.

Since I used to argue in the past that although I personally wouldn't have an abortion but it's the woman's right to choose, I know from experience that the only way to have an impact on such an arguement is to have to confront the reality of abortion. It's impossible to face that reality and make any case that it isn't murder....

I truely believe that the medical profession and secular feminists deliberately use terminology which de-humanises the murder that is actually taking place, and that there are women who have abortions who do not fully understand what they are doing until it's too late. I'm not in any way saying that this is the case for all women of course....however if the programme makes women think about what is actually happening then it might prevent some abortions in the future.

Thanks - my gran gets all the Catholic papers so I'll have a look next time I'm at her house. :D

The abortion debate is a lot different in the US than it is in the UK. From my experience, abortion is a very political issue in the US and there is a lot of heated debate going on. In the UK, it's rather stagnant. None of the political parties have any policy on abortion (except the ProLife Party, who rock by the way - I'm going to vote for them as a protest vote.) Abortion is just kind of accepted as a fact of life and sometimes people are absolutely shocked when I say that I think abortion should be illegal.

So anything that shakes up the debate is to be welcomed. I'm not entirely happy with My Foetus but it was interesting in a way and at least got people to think about abortion for an hour. What we really need is a pro-life documentary of the same calibre... but somehow I doubt that's gona happen. <_<
