Dave
Does anyone remember "The Silent Scream" from the 1980s? That too showed a sonogram of an actual abortion.
I've heard of it AND seen it. You can view it online, but I can't remember the site. Ellenita
This programme was so disturbing but hopefully because people were forced to confront pictures of aborted babies which have never been allowed on TV in the UK before, it will have had a positive impact. The filmmaker didn't present any religious view - this may well have been a good thing in that many pro choice people often just dismiss the arguments as 'right wing fundamentalism' rather than confronting the facts. Interestingly, one doctor who described himself as pro choice is having a radical re think, certainly about the time scales allowed in the UK, as he is pioneering the use of 3D colour imaging of babies in the womb rather than the black and white scan images we have at the moment. The pictures of babies at 12 weeks were amazing! What was really interesting was the use of the doctors language - he described all of these as 'babies' not as a foetus - I thought that was really important as medical language often de humanises the reality of what is happening. Another doctor was chilling, describing his decision to do abortions as 'protecting the rights of the unwanted baby'. His calm description of how late abortions are carried out reminded me of Nazi doctors describing concentration camp experiments. The pro life person argued that if abortion is legal then showing images of the results of this legal 'surgical procedure' should also be legal. People from pro life organisations have been arrrested for showing them. The final scene in the programme was beautiful - the filmmaker and her new baby in a swimming pool together, but I felt very sad for the little girl who will never know her older brother or sister.... The programme quoted the figure of 47 million abortions world wide every year.

Homestarlover85
The police are currently investigating doctors who carried out an abortion on the ground of the baby having a clef palate.
that is one of the saddest things i have heard
luciana
here's the link to see it. Dr. Bernard Nathanson is the doctor in the video. He was one of the founders of NARAL and an abortionist and atheist. He has become pro-life and Catholic. Ellenita
Just in case anyone is confused - the programme shown on TV in the UK wasn't the Silent Scream - I doubt that will ever be shown as people who have shown still pictures of aborted babies have been arrested in the UK. The programme was called My Foetus.
Deeds
Here's an article about 'My Foetus' I co-wrote for a pro-life organisation I'm involved in. I didn't like the programme. Waaay too many unnecessary shots of Julia Black's stomach and the abortion they showed was a misrepresentation since abortions at 4 weeks gestation are extremely rare.
His calm description of how late abortions are carried out reminded me of Nazi doctors describing concentration camp experiments
That was horrible. I couldn't believe that he said it was for the best for mother and baby. Edited April 24, 2004 by Deeds

Ellenita
Deeds, the Catholic Herald and the Catholic Times also had reviews.....I've still got all the papers - if you didn't get them and would like a copy of the reviews PM me! RandomProddy...was it an ethical choice not to have a TV? I'm increasingly using the 'off' switch....now if I could only just cure my addiction to a certain soap!
