Mr.Cat
I'm rather disgusted and upset by this... But the intention of the commercials seemed to be invoking this response and getting attention, so mission accomplished I guess. Sickening that someone would even think of this though... Soylent green is people!!! On a side note: Curiously I had a geography professor who was as republican, conservative, anti-obama, pro-capitalism, country boy who drove into the city everyday because he doesn't like the city (got upset when one of the deans told him he couldn't keep his shotgun in his truck)... frequently thumbed his nose at this kind of nonsense and people like Al Gore, a non-scientist preaching on science for money... But he admitted climate change and global warming does seem quite supported by the evidence, but he seemed less certain on what was causing it, and found more reason to be focusing this reduction on INDUSTRY rather than the residential population. He pointed out that this drive to recycle is sort of a farce, when your local recycling center may or may not recycle the KIND of recyclable that you have. Even better, there may be less pickups for recycling than trash, so you just get to sit around with garbage waiting for recycling. Even cooler is how these "green" appliances seem to work less efficiently and cost MORE. Most of all encouraging children, who have no control over these sorts of things, to do something... DO WHAT he would ask? So his conclusion about what he understood was this "green movement" was to ask people to live in a lower quality of life while never addressing the real problem, then he asked if we thought SOMEONE might be making a bit of money off of that? Yeah... There may be a problem, but these aren't real solutions. Edited October 1, 2010 by Mr Cat

sixpence
yah... this is not the way to go about getting support... peer pressure...SURE .. but not joking about killing people... good way to be "green" : quit being a wasteful materialist... super easy right?? hahaha
SaintOfVirtue
Well, I wonder what the world will look like once they've killed everyone who disagrees with them.
Vincent Vega
i lol'd. Really, it does more to hurt their cause than help it. "If you disagree with us, you aren't fit to live." Right, that's rational.
rizz_loves_jesus
It's tasteless, but I hardly think the message is that they want to kill anyone who disagrees with them. It's just supposed to be comical (but fails miserably.)
Mark of the Cross
I sent 1010global.org my thoughts. If you would like to tell them what you think the email is hello@1010global.org
Your video was slightly amusing, but had more of a ring of 'We want what we want and wish we could dominate and force you by threats such as this.' I wasn't bothered by it, there are plenty of crazies in the world producing such material, but I'm also aware that some sensitive people were upset by it especially children. My conclusion is that your organisation belongs not in the global warming org basket but crazy basket. I think your idea of everyone directly reducing carbon by 10% per year as unrealistic and I'm not sure carbon production is as much a problem compared to deforestation and like ecological concerns. Carbon can be absorbed by carbon sinks, whereas we need forests to produce oxygen. I have purchased vehicles and appliances that are supposedly echo friendly. They have been so inefficient and troublesome that from now on I would prefer to stick to conventional machines until they have been improved and proven to me that they now achieve what the manufacturer claims. It is very hard for me to go around turning off lights or not buying a newspaper when I am aware that industry and their wealthy owners are wasting 1000's of times as much, including governments at election time who do not hold back on wasted election material. It's very similar to people who go on very strict over the top health fads to the point where quality of life is degraded only to get cancer or run over by a bus. Sure if you can save a bit of carbon without too much of a problem then by all means do it, it will save your pocket. But going over the top will not achieve much.
