Best Acne Solutions?

I had gone on a 5 month treatment of Accutane, and it left my face perfect for a few months. Then I did a month of light jogging, and then acne started up again. I quit jogging, and it was still there. So, I went to the dermo and he said it wasn't the pustule type, so I didn't need a second round of Accutane, thankfully. This time, he said it was under the skin and so we will use retinoids. So, I'm on Epiduo cream for three months. So far, it is helping some, but I've got some time to go. So, I guess Accutane doesn't totally solve the problem for everyone -- but it is great to have that severe form gone. I do recommend seeing a dermo though, as they know what form of acne it is and what's best to treat it. And hey, if this is gone with just three months of cream, a w esome! I'd hate to be on an OTC product forever! I will warn that it is hard to get a quick appointment with dermos, but if you call early in the morning, you can get canceled openings.

The Summit Dominicans are now selling a facial soap that contains clay and oatmeal - sounds good!

For some reason, the past week I have had more acne on my face then when I was in high school and well, I'm 21, a senior in college and don't like it. I googled acne solutions, but am not sure if what the company says actually works.

My question for anyone then is: What acne products have you used and were you satisfied? Did it go away for a while and then come back? I'll probably resort to buying something at walmart, but am looking for suggestions for what actually works.

Thanks for your help!

I actually has the same problem recently. I never get acne. Then suddenly I had like five small pimples on my forehead. I also got sunburned badly so that might have something to do with it. Anyway, I picked up some Oxy Spot Treatment and put it on last nigh. Today I wake up and it's about gone.

I just always rinse off my face whenever I've been outside/worked out, I wash my face well in the shower, and that's about it. I really think genetics has more to do with it than personal hygeine.

I've found that the best thing for me is using mild soap like Dove Sensitive Skin Bar Soap and a mild astringent like Sea Breeze Sensitive Skin. Wal-Mart sells both of these for very cheap.

I no longer suffer with acne like I did in my teens, thank God, but it seems to have switched with rosacea, which I'm managing to get under control by not drinking alcohol or caffeine (in large amounts like Coke; I do sometimes drink a cup of coffee, but not regularly). The bar soap has really staved off the breakouts I get with rosacea which are not acne bumps, but little fluid filled bumps--kind of like cysts. They are tiny and pretty easy to cover up with makeup. I also started using Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion on my face and it has not made me break out, either. And I have some really sensitive skin!

I tried a few things in my teens like Proactiv (which was terrible, IMHO, it made me breakout in a rash; I found out that I am very sensitive to benzoyl peroxide) and a dermatologist tried me on Tetracycline, Clindamyacin gel, and Differin gel. I was to take the tetracycline in the morning and then use clindamyacin in the morning after washing my face, and then the Differin gel at night. It didn't work, and I ended up with peeling skin. It was awful. He then recommended that I use a mild cleanser. It took a while, and a LOT of experimenting until I found the Dove Sensitive Skin bar works. I also have to watch out for which makeup I use and generally only use L'Oreal and Revlon. :)

ETA: Also, the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask does wonders for me when I get a breakout on occasion. It doesn't cause redness or irritate my rosacea. :)
