Sarah147
I'll be praying for both of you. Please forgive my total change of plan... You might also do some google research on recoveries people have had using vegan diets, raw food, raw juicing, glyconutrients, probiotics, kefir, mega-mineral, mega-vitamin, etc. Especially a high-raw food diet. Also look into the JuiceMan books. Complementary, Alternative, Integrative Medicines. ND's. Healing can happen, just have a look at these links:
Can you believe this young girl? She was with Down Syndrome as a child. And there she is years later, after using glyconutrients, a straight A honor roll student! Lilllabettt
That glyconutrient stuff, I know from long and personal experience, is an utter scam. It is the snake oil of our time, peddled by people preying on the desperate hopes of suffering people. Apparently, Many cancer patients visit Lourdes. St. Therese went there with her mother when she had breast cancer. I have never been myself, but I am told that being in the midst of all the people who have faith despite their sickness is incredible ... there is just an overwhelming sense of the presence of God and His love ... whether or not physical healing occurs, it is an experience that gives strength to go on. If you would like to go and can, then do. But not if doing so will cause you and your spouse unreasonable trouble and expense. Your wish to go contains in itself all the faith that would be necessary to work a miracle. God is pleased by your trust in His power over sickness whether you actually go to Lourdes or not. My prayers for you. Peace be with you.
MithLuin
Perhaps there is a shrine nearer to you that would be less taxing for your wife to visit? I don't know where in the world you are, but there is bound to be a 'local' Marian shrine. Dealing with illness is difficult enough as is; adding a long involved journey to the process doesn't fall under the category of 'it couldn't hurt.' Prayer never hurts. But a pilgrimage to Lourdes probably isn't for everyone.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your wife, and your family as you step into treatment. When my husband was first diagnosed, one of his aunts sent us a small bottle with Lourdes water in it. We still have some left, and I am happy to send you what remains. Sarah147
You might also look into people that have healing services, such as at Parishes. I've heard of people that are known to have healed people, by the Gift of God, at some Parishes in my area. They mainly tour around at different Parishes from other states. I don't remember their names though, but you could ask around in your area or online.
That glyconutrient stuff, I know from long and personal experience, is an utter scam. It is the snake oil of our time, peddled by people preying on the desperate hopes of suffering people.
That's sad to hear. I hadn't thoroughly researched it, so I'm still pretty new to it. It makes me wonder how that young girl with Down's changed? Maybe some other things she was doing. I strongly believe in the healing power the body can have when given a high amount of raw juiced foods, and super foods, vegetables, and fruits. It fills it with nutrients so the body can clean out and heal. I'm interested in the "whole person" approach. I had a friend that almost had to go on blood transfusions; they got onto daily veg/fruit juicing out of the JuiceMan book (mainly carrots and apples), while making no changes to other eating routine, and they returned to the doctor some weeks later. The doctor was shocked, saying that their blood returned to normal. He began asking what was done in that time. Nutrients are powerful. Our bodies are made from the soil, we need the soils nutrients. Cancer and different diseases/conditions are said, by many in the natural community, to be from toxins in the body, which normally are cleansed out of the cells and body, but have remained in the body rather than cleansed out, perhaps from lack of nutrients to support this and continuation of toxic material coming in (ex. food additives, chemicals in processed food, insecticides, food colorings, junk, etc.) I personally have experimented for a time with juicing and high-vegetable diets. It can be delicious when you get into adding herbs (Basil is INCREDIBLE! ), spices, olive oil, nuts, heating foods (garlic, onions, tomatoes, etc.), dried seaweed flakes, etc. And many methods of cooking: roasting, sauteeing, blending in the mixer, broiling, simmering, slow-cooker, grilling, etc. As well as different styles/tastes: Italian, Indian, Chinese, French, etc. In my ventures, I've come across some AMAZING recipes and I learned about soooo many different tastes for the palate. I got very experimental and had a lot of fun doing it! I think it has really prepared me for convent food, if I enter in the future. MithLuin
Fruits and veggies sound yummy to me.....but maybe the young girl never had Downs and it's a scam? Downs syndrome is a chromosomal disorder, so there's very little you can do about it. The shrine of Ste. Anne de Beaupre and St. Joseph's Oratory in Quebec are both pilgrimage destinations for those seeking healing. I don't know where you are located, but if that is more local to you, it might be a more manageable trip for a sick person to take. The National Shrine of Saint Jude is in Chicago. (He is the patron saint of Hope.) Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a Byzantine Catholic shrine in Washington state. National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, may not be particularly associated with spiritual healings (I do not know), but the Marians there are awesome and would certainly take the time to pray with you and offer a blessing. Give me a geographical region, and I'm bound to find a pilgrimage site for you.......though I think having someone else bring you the Lourdes water is probably a good idea. Ed Normile
I will pray for your wife. I fully beleive in healinmg through prayer I have even experienced it in my family with our son. Any catholic, or for that matter any christian can obtain a healing through God with prayer, if it is God,s will that the person is healed. Dear Jesus, Great Physician and Healer of our souls and bodies, please if it is your will heal this woman for her sake and the sake of her loved ones that it may be a strong witness to your Divinity for those she touches in her life and that she may be able to continue to worship and praise You and Your father. I humbly ask this with a firm faith and beleif for the sake of these people involved. Amen ed
mcts
Also, pray to (soon to be) St. Andre Bessette. He was known throughout all of Montreal and eventually the world as a miracle worker. Look up his story. It's amazing. He'll be canonized next month, I believe.

Sarah147
I know how that is with those we love. It has broken my heart before. Getting her on freshly juiced raw veg/fruit, if you can do it, may help give her strength. As well as good soups, like Japanese Miso soup, veggie broth, etc. Homemade is best. HopefulBride
My prayers are with you. If she is unable to travel perhaps a small pilgrimmage to your parish or a local parish with the Blessed Sacrament exposed, take her there and together take your intentions to Him.
