Help Me Find Some Articles

Okay, I ordered my Sociology text on Wednesday; I will probably be getting it this Wednesday. The professor is really cool, she knows that not everyone has their texts yet, and told us that we can find most if not all of the assigned articles online. We have three assigned for Tuesday, and I found one already. The other two are: "Chappals and Gym Shorts: An Indian Muslim Woman in the Land of Oz" by Almas Sayeed and "From a Native Daughter" by Haunani-Lay Trask. The articles are pretty short, the one I just printed is four pages with huge margins. Anyway, I keep putting variations of the article titles into Google, but no such luck (yet). If anyone is interested in giving it a go for me, I will give you a cookie. Not the computer kind, the chocolate kind.

Have you tried using any subscription databases? Your university almost certainly gives you access to some of those, and it might be the only way to find the articles if they're of a more 'scholarly/academic' genre.

Yes, I am looking through all articles posted by the faculty of the Sociology department via the online catalog and I got nothing.

Woah, I found a poem Trask wrote entitled "Racist White Woman" that begins like this:
racist White Woman
I could kick
Your face, puncture
Both eyes.
You deserve this kind
Of violence.
"Racism. That is what is going on right here and right now in Hawai'i. The same thing that's going on against black Americans. The same thing that's going on by Bush. Bush wants to bomb Islamic countries. Why? Because he's a racist. Because Islamic people don't believe in Christianity. Because they have their own region of the world, called the Middle East. Who bombed us? Wasn't Hawaiians. We need to think very, very clearly about who the enemy is. The enemy is the United States of America, and everybody who supports it.” - Trask

They do have an article of hers listed on the online catalog, only available from the library though: "Eros and power : the promise of feminist theory". Subjects: Feminism, Patriarchy, Sex Role, Civilization: Western. I am glad I do not have to read another article on feminism, at least not any time soon. The first article we read for the class (not by Trask) started out real good, but then ended with (I loosely quote) "men who hold doors open for women are making a mockery of women, as they [men] are acting as the servants, when in reality women are treated as the servants and caretakers of men".

Anyway, Trask apparently proclaimed that she is not an American and "would rather die" than be called an American. I suppose no one had the heart to tell her that Hawaii is a part of the United States.

Do you know anyone who would let you photocopy those two articles?
I could think of one person, but it would be pointless. It takes almost an hour for me to get to campus and I do not have time to do so tomorrow. Nor do I know the person's schedule (if he would have the time to do it Tuesday), and he was not even in class on Thursday.

That's part of the Trask article, so far all I've been able to find. For a "free trial" (they want you to enter credit card info) you can access the whole thing. I'll keep looking. (I'm an ex-library nerd, research is a fairly strong point of mine when I put my mind to it. lol)

Most of the stuff I am finding for Trask says "From a Native Daughter" is a book, but this link has the whole intro posted. Not sure what exactly you need on this one, the fact that one source calls it an article and another calls it a book has me confused as to what exactly you need.
