OnlySunshine
I was looking through all of my old posts and noticed I never updated this one from 6 years ago. I actually took the Yamaha back to the music store because I couldn't afford the rental payments due to unemployment. About 3 years ago, I started getting really serious about playing again and my mom said she'd buy me a flute for Christmas, but it couldn't go over $100. I looked on eBay and Craigslist and ended up finding a REALLY nice Jupiter JFL-511 flute that had been reconditioned and was being sold by a music store in Kansas. I begged, bargained, and pleaded with her to let me place a bid and she allowed me to. I was the only bidder at the end and paid $99 for the flute plus shipping. When I got it, I immediately took it to a local music shop and had them look it over to make sure it was as good as they described. The lady there - who has over 10 years of woodwind experience - said she couldn't believe I paid so little for it! The pads were excellent, there were hardly any scratches (they were all superficial, anyway), and it played great. I've had it for almost 3 years and love playing it. I need to get back into playing regularly because my full-time job kind of got in the way at first, but things have settled down and I'm having serious flute-playing withdrawal.
