Theologian in Training
what is the communion of saints?
Traditionally, the Mystical Body is composed of three members, The Church Militant, The Church Suffering, and the Church Triumphant. The Church Militant are those that are still in the world, contending against the flesh and the devil, the Church Suffering, are the poor souls in Purgatory, making expiation for their sins, and the Church Triumphant are those souls in Heaven. These three compose the Mystical Body, of which Christ is the head and we the limbs. The union of this Body is what is known as the Communion of the Saints. So, even those souls in Purgatory and Heaven make up this communion, and we are all one body, since death is no longer a separation of the One Body given the destruction of death by Christ. Hope that helps God Bless Alelluia!!!
