fides' Jack
I'm just curious about this. The real question was going to be directed solely to those who regularly attend the EF, but now I'd like to know who uses one in general.
IcePrincessKRS
I don't, but I will probably use one, at least for a little while, when the new translations come out. I've been Catholic all my life so I've been hearing the same prayers for 30 years, it's going to take a little but of adjusting not to say the old prayer translations. lol I have been teaching my 7 year old how to use the missal, though, so that she can follow along easier during Mass. I figure that's important since she will be starting First Communion classes this year.
Hilde
No and no. For the simple reason that I do not have one. If anyone have a good rec on a Traditional Latin Mass missal shout it out. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
No and No, though I cannot wait until the new translation of the Mass comes out in America sometime around this Advent. MithLuin
I used a missal when I was a kid (around the time of my first communion), and I will still use it to read along with the readings sometimes. I am sure that I (like many others) will use it more heavily when the new translation comes out. I have used missals when I've attended the mass in another language (Latin, Italian). They're not even going to give it a shakedown cruise? They're not going to try it out at least once before disseminating it to the masses (literally?) This could be disastrous! ~Sternhauser
kafka
I used a missal when I went to the EF, now I dont need one since I go to the OF. It is interesting to note some theologians see the OF and the translation of the Mass into all the languages as a logical progression which began in the 19th century with the movement of introducing the missals so that the laity could more fruitfully participate at the Mass.
