Nothing is stopping you from starting a company in which everyone owns the products of their labor. Quit whining.

Except for the fact that then you have to work instead of having some one else do it for you.

Not allowing our society or economy to favor a select few or exist to the determent of others. The allotment of public resources to public services, well-fare, and those in need. Compulsion by taxation to support education (schools), medicine (hospitals), transportation (roads), communication (mail), safety (emergency responders), protection (police), defense (military), and other public services. The idea of employees collectively bargaining with their employers (unions) or having the protection of law against exploitation. The government having laws against price gouging, against discrimination, and unfair dismissal in business (employment contracts). Compulsory education, guaranteeing children access to an adequate education, and providing access to affordable higher education.

All of these evil socialist ideas bleeding into the minds of our youth...

I can appreciate people having differing perspectives or opinions, even disliking communism or socialism. But perhaps its when people want to equate "socialism" with "communism" or "evil" that I start to wonder if they understand what their disagreeing with. The United States has been socialist for a long time now... Everything I mentioned prior in some way is present in the United States... and I doubt any politician who seriously wanted to be involved in politics could advance the abolition of anything mentioned above.

Sure there are things that need adjustment, but there is no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, to extend an expression.

But curiously, notice how a collective right to be stupid or lazy wasn't mentioned, bizarre!

Just because their commonly owned by the people, funded through compulsory taxes, and enforced by law... Just because socialized means to place under government/group ownership and control...
