Sarah147
Hello, I just had the strangest experience today. I was talking to someone in the teaching field, and ocassionally they would look at me, but for the most part, he kept turning his face COMPLETELY to the side, switching sides at times. It was ridiculous, we were in a secluded area, and looking to one side faced him into the wall. It became apparent to me that he was avoiding looking at the big crusifix I was wearing. (I wear a Crusifix with the Corpus. It's a little over an inch, the style of Pope John Paul II's staff Crusifix.) I've felt strange about it ever since. I guess if someone doesn't understand the Cross, they may think it is horrible to look at. It's really made me wonder why he was sooo bothered and couldn't look me in the face. Anyone else have strange experiences wearing something Religious (ex. Medal, Cross, etc.)? God bless you.
Moosey
People approach me and ask me about my mantilla at the Novus Ordo Mass, its'a always positive comments. If I don't get approached I get dirty looks. I usually give the dirty looks a big broad smile

IcePrincessKRS
Not really treated strangely... although I did have a hippy midwife ask about my scapular once.
MIKolbe
When I had a St. Philomena cord, I wore it around my neck. People would ask what it was, and I told them... One guy thought it was a cord made out of a material called 'St. Philomena'. He kept asking me 'where do you get St. Philomena material?', and I told him the Catholic shop downtown...and then he just gave me a blank stare... We had a conversation do-over, and then all was clear.
Sarah147
Maybe he's a vampire.
I've noticed other unusual looks once people spotted my Miraculous Medal or Sacred Heart, worn in the past. But the Crusifix seems to be having the biggest effect on people. Didacus
Where I work, searches are common (diamond mine). I usually keep my rosary hidden, but in a search I don't have a choice but to submit it to X-rays (it hasn't started to glow yet). I didn't get any notable reactions for the securtiy officers, but hten again they are focused on others things.

My central bookshelf is reserved for religion and is topped with statues of saints and a bobble head of the Pope. It's shelves had a few small crucifixes and my Miraculous Medal that I didn't bring up with me.
Old_Joe
I have a T-shirt that said "I love my German Shepherd" on the front and "Pope Benedict XVI" on the back. I once wore it the bookstore on UNL campus the cashier asked if I had a dog, and I said no. I also have a T-shirt like this one and on the back it has a list of all of John Paul II's accomplishments as Pope. I wore to Wal-mart and the cashier asked who it was, so I turned around to show her. When I turned back, she had a look on her face that seemed to say, "Oh, you're one of them." TeresaBenedicta
I recently wore my Mount 2000 retreat hoodie to the Dominican parish and the priest stopped me and said, "Hey! That's the Dominican cross you got on there!" ... Other than that, I don't really get much in way of reactions. I wear my miraculous medal, but it's gold and small. I carry my rosary in my pocket. Sometimes I wear religious t-shirts or sweatshirts, but for the most part, nobody says anything. Although, I did feel kind of funny wearing my campus ministry t-shirt into the casino that one night...
Tridenteen
JMJ My scapular gets comments when it escapes. So does my "Pray For Vocations: www. PGHPRIEST.com" rubber bracelet.

Btw, thank you for introducing me to St. Philomena...she's been a good friend these last few months! I've never had a reaction so much to what I'm wearing. But just this summer, I was sitting in the airport, and there was a lady sitting next to me, and when she noticed I was reading a book about St. Philomena, she wouldn't even look at me. Then, we get on the plane, and of course, she was supposed to sit next to me. She ended up switching seats (making it quite obvious that she didn't want to sit by me). It made me giggle inside, because she didn't pick up on me being Catholic before the book, when I was wearing 2 medals, a Saints bracelet and carrying around a backpack with a big ol' cross on it. And yet, somehow, once I had pulled out that book, I was unfit for her to acknowledge. And I was SO looking forward to pulling out my rosary mid-flight!!
