laetitia crucis
Hello my beloved VSers! ( <-- VICTOOOOOOOOOOOOOORY!!!) This Sunday my friends will be throwing me a Bride of Christ shower. I first head about this type of thing a several months ago (most likely through VS! Hah!) and saw this post from the Passionists Nuns: A "Bride of Christ" Shower. This party will be celebrated with a few of my closest friends -- there will be five or six of us in total. We'll be watching The Trouble with Angels (and maybe Keeping the Faith) aaaand I think I'll be making that to-die-for Literal Coffee Cake. I'm sure we'll play games, too, but I don't really know what. Anyhooooo -- so, I just wanted to check in here to see if anyone else has had experience with these things (Bride of Christ showers or even normal Bridal Showers). - fun games to play (perhaps "cleaned up" versions of Bridal Shower games) - fun "beverages" to drink and foods to eat - fun activities - fun bridal shower "traditions" ("cleaned up", please, if not appropriate ) - anything else I don't know. Haha! P.S. -- this Sunday is the Feast of the Queenship of Mary. Isn't that lovely? Makes me happy -- even if it is technically trumped by Sunday. ) Thanks, all!
I LOVE Trouble with Angels, though it makes me cry at the end now... I have a couple game suggestions: "Pin the Veil on the Nun" or rosary or something like that. For my wedding shower, my sister made up a quiz for everyone else to see how well they know me (multiple choice). Just fun questions, like, "Who is Sarah's favorite Saint?" and "What medal does Sarah always wear?" At a friend's party, the hostess had talked to her fiancee and made a bunch of questions about HIM and the hostess asked HER the questions. Your friends could probably look, if your order has a website, and see if they can find facts and such to stump you on there. S'mores are always a fantastic food. And, I learned at my sister's party, that you can roast marshmallows over the stove! If I think of anything else, I'll add it later.

I've never done it on the stove, but I've done it in the microwave, which I learned is pretty messy if you are not watching the marshmellow! I love watching it puff up though! I've never used the codes--I always click on the pictures (yeah, yeah, I know--it's just that I never paid attention to the codes. In fact, I didn't even know you could USE codes until all this came up. ) Random idea: Have your guests wear white socks with sandals, to get an idea of the types of mortifications you will undergo in the future. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
This thread has piqued my interest... I've played with the idea in my head and thought about doing something with the Youth Ministry here to have a baby shower for the Life Center along with the Bride-of-Christ to be Shower... I've also always really wanted a tea party. But this is your thing, not mine, so I'll try to keep my thoughts out and just leave good ideas... Okay, I have to think about this... sorry.
