dominicansoul
Why does that matter? Have you ever bought a book from Barnes and Noble? They have lots of books much worse than those published by the SSPX. Barnes and Noble sells pro-atheist books by authors such as Richard Dawkins and Stephen Hawking. Perhaps you should burn your copy of The Scarlet Pimpernel published by Barnes and Noble Classics.
no. i've never bought a book from Barnes and Nobles. To be honest, I have just a small collection of books I have purchased throughout my life.... Usually, when I want to read a book, I usually get it from my local public library... The books I do own I have from Ignatius, Tan, and a LOT of out of print Catholic books that you can't find today (from my dad's collection...) ... I had no idea Angelus was associated with a schismatic group...
Resurrexi
While you are burning all the books you bought at Barnes and Noble, be sure also to burn your copies of the Catechism of the Catholic Church published by Random House, the same company that publishes The Da Vinici Code . KnightofChrist
I suppose it doesn't matter that the SSPX is not a schismatic group, that only Archbishop Lefebvre committed the schismatic act condemned by JPII, and that most of Angelus Press' books are reprints and loyal to Mother Church which contain a Nihil Obstat and/or a Imprimatur back in the days when that actually meant a lot. They have many books by Archbishop Sheen found no place else.
Interesting observation .. and yes, the Canons of St. John Cantius sell the Angelus Press missal .. and here's Fr.
As long as the SSPX version has meditations from St. Louis De Montfort, it is fine. Do not get too hung up on the publisher. There are basically NO safe publishers today. Even Ignatius and TAN have printed questionable materials...but for sure Paulist and Ligouri and other such presses print many things that are questionable...but few hesitate to buy from them.
Honestly though, I can understand why people wouldn't want to buy from them. They certainly aren't the first place I look when searching for good books. In your case though, I wouldn't worry about it at all, Groo. I think I have one of those books you mentioned too. And that's a good observation from Knight .. most of their books are reprints like Tan. Edited August 14, 2010 by Chiquitunga
dominicansoul
this is off topic, but after reading Fr Z's favorable critique of the Angelus Press Missal, this article really grabbed my attention... http://wdtprs.com/blog/2010/08/fr-z-in-a-morbid-rant/ YIKES! I've heard from plenty of good people that the whole lot of them are in schism. And then, I've heard from the few friends I have who are in the SSPX that they are not.... I just pray for them... but I'm not one to feel very trustworthy of disobedient groups...
KnightofChrist
I wouldn't judge the whole lot of them as individuals. All that matters to me when it comes to the SSPX is that they have prayed a million+ rosaries for the Pope, and that he in return has trusted them enough to meet them at the table and through his bishops call this an internal matter of the Catholic Church. Schismatics are by definition outside the Church. Edited August 14, 2010 by KnightofChrist

Their million plus rosaries say a lot to the Holy Pontiff, largely a clear message of love. I pray the talks heal the wound caused by that one shepherds disobedience.
