holly.o
From what you wrote about your situation and the dog's situation, I think it was a wise decision not to adopt her. Unfortunately, we can't always save every needy animal (I'd literally have hundreds by now if that were the case). Keep trying with the rescues - advise your friends to contact as many as they can. As people have said, the breed-specific ones are usually the best way to go. I don't know what part of the country they're in, but some areas (like the South....) have a huge overpopulation problem with animals, and that makes the rescues always full. So you have to keep trying and sometimes be placed on a waiting list. Be cautious of no-kill shelters (as opposed to foster-based rescue organizations) - there are some that are not as nice as you think and have actually gotten in trouble for the ways they operate and take care of their animals. Tell them not to give up! And God bless you for seriously considering taking her in! Edited August 7, 2010 by holly.o
dominicansoul
I think you should consider adopting a somewhat smaller doggy... something like this:
LoveConquersAll
I vote yay. Friendly dogs normally develop loyalty to their owner, making them easier to train. Labs are awesome
