Theologian in Training

Since this will probably be my last post, for who knows how long, I may run a little long. Therefore, for the sake of those that like to skim threads. I am merely going to recount my experience of finding this site and bid farewell for an indeterminate amount of time.

For those that want to read on:

I remember when I first discovered this site, how few people, most of which we rarely see anymore, posted. Now it has become a very busy site, that dUst is even forced to expand given the immense amount of traffic. It was funny, my first experience on this site was with a seminarian who has since left (or been permanently banned) who, while trying to pick a fight publicly would privately justify his comments in email. I have not heard from him in quite a while, and I wonder what he has been up to lately.

Anyway, it was a different site, with a whole slew of different people, even MaryLu (forget what she called herself here) and Mateo found their way over here from the greenspun board. Now, it has become a very popular and populated site with new members, it seems, daily. The Holy Spirit brings those whom need it the most, and this site is definitely indicative of that. It is great to see and I thank God that it has become what it has become.

Now though I feel as though I have overstayed my visit, just as it seems many old regulars feel as well. Therefore, I feel it would be best to leave. You know the only reason I even stayed after finding this site, despite how incredibly busy I was, was because I was able to help with certain liturgical and theological issues that I could raise to the faculty here, or research quite easily, given the extensive library we have been given the key to. Now, that is definitely not needed, there are many people here, even priests and deacons, that are better and much more well-versed in theology then I myself will ever be. They have definitely been blessed by the Holy Spirit with a great gift, and I commend them all for that highly.

Granted, I am not trying to imply that I feel as though I am useless now because I cannot bring the same insights others bring to the table, since a lot of theological issues have been answered elsewhere and much better by professionals, just that the same methods I used to obtain the information are used by many here, to a much quicker degree then I could ever possibly imagine.

Like I said, I don't see myself as useless, and I don't view myself as only useful in theology, otherwise I would have never even bothered posting random Simpsons quotes in the Open Mic thread or take an inventory of those that needed prayers and help. I just feel more and more that I have overstayed my visit, and that I would be better off not spending time here, as much as doing other things that need to be or I would like to have done. I am moving into Third Theology and really need to start having an idea of what I will write as my thesis paper, amongst other things.

With that said, I have decided to take a leave of absence from this site for an indeterminate amount of time. If I do return I will probably only check the Q&A board as well as the Vocation Station, since I enjoy talking about vocations. Otherwise, I will merely "lurk."

I want to thank you all, especially those that are praying for me, and continue to do so. I too offer my prayers for everyone here as well.

I also want to thank in a special way the regulars, those from whose blood, sweat, and tears this site became what it was. Specifically, LittleFlower, Cmom, Kilroy, DonJohn, Winchester, Jake, Azriel, Anna, JasJis, Katholicos, Donna and , of course, dUst himself, without whose dream this site would never have existed.

To everyone else, thank you.

God Bless Alelluia!!!

You will be sorely missed Theo. You will remain in my prayers. If you ever find a spare moment please stop in briefly and let us know how you are doing even if you can't stay and post like the rest of us crazy birds.

Kilroy the Ninja

God Bless you Theo! You are loved and will be missed! May the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
