sixpence
After all these discussions about extraordinary vs ordinary form, I found out that there is a nearby shrine chapel that celebrates TLM on sunday and wednesday. I was considering going today. I have never been. Advice??? things to be aware of???
TeresaBenedicta
I'm sure the more regulars to the TLM will give you more structured advice... but I would say, just take it in. It's a completely different way of worship than we're used-- much more mysterious. I wouldn't worry about trying to follow along in the missal... just take it in. Follow what others do. And just really experience it.
Nihil Obstat
Will it be a high Mass or a low Mass?
Hilde
The first time you might not understand a lot of what's going on but don't be discouraged, it takes time to get used to it. I find the TLM to be less "now we do this, now we do that" like the NO, and more floating in its prayer in a way that comes more natural to me. And there won't be a "reach out and touch your neighbor," either. The movie described in the link is excellent. And prophetic. ~Sternhauser
Yea, this. You're going to get lost unless you understand Latin. Don't sweat it. Lol, especially if it's a Low Mass. The only time I was at a Low Mass I was lost right up until the priest was elevating the Eucharist.
Tridenteen
JMJ The best part is that no one really cares what you do or whether you follow along as long as you leave them be. No hand shaking, back slapping, dancing or anyhting else required. Please leave your drums and ro acoustic guitar at home. Sternhauser, you are right on the money about kneeling. I had a knee infection 2 months ago, and had to sit the whole Mass. It really hit me what an exercise opportunity the Mass is
