The evangelicals I know only refer to the Holy Spirit as a feeling they get when they choose a course of action- as in "the Spirit moved me". The only reference I hear to God from non-demoninationals is "God is love" as a justification for whatever action they have chosen.

I agree, it would be very untrue for me to lump all the moderators into one category. :) That is why my comments have been focused on the moderators who participated in the thread that exploded into a debate over Latin use. Which is why I have been using phrases like "some moderators" (post 138) and "moderators in those threads" (post 152).

And yet your posts never indicate that we have only agreed with some of the posts/points that were made.

Yeah, that hit the nail on the head. They also like to "follow what the Bible teaches."

I mentioned one point - that some feel excluded by the use of Latin - that "some moderators" agreed with in that thread. I was unaware that I had to give a thorough description of that thread in order to convey the point of post number 138, which was to explain to Red why Knight is concerned about Latin use being a potential violation of Phatmass rules in the future. I gave one example of what has formulated this concern, i.e. that "some moderators" agree that Latin use could exclude or does exclude forum members who are either not Catholic or not familiar with the language.

Well, considering I was the most vocal of those moderators I feel that I was being misrepresented. I think it's only fair that I get to dispute that. I also wasn't giving my opinion as a moderator in that thread (or this one), but as an individual phatmasser. Moderators are actually allowed to do that. Not every post we make is in our capacity as moderators. Believe it or not we have opinions on things that are outside the realm of phorum guidelines.

Still it should be understood that when one is a Mod and they begin to at least appear to label use of Latin as rude and charitable or similar charges it is going to cause concern by those who are not mods who use Latin.

I have noticed that, too. They also speak a lot about The Lord (and again not much reference to God, and almost never, in my experience, the Holy Spirit).

When my older brother was very little, his babysitter was a born again Christian. I remember my mom telling me not too long ago that while the woman was great and very nice, she would often use phrases like "Well, I will just have to consult the Lord on that one!" for everyday things. My mom thought it was a bit odd.

KofC - Unless or until you see an actual change in the rules don't worry about it.
Everyone - Can we kindly stay on topic?

I strongly disagree. You are reading way too much into our posts if that is the how you interpret what we say. We mods disagree with one another just as much as we disagree with everyone else. Dust isn't going to make posting in Latin against the guidelines. I would have thought you've been around long enough to know he wouldn't do something as ridiculous as that.

It is odd. When I hear one of my Catholic friends say things like "If the Lord wills it" I do a mental double take. lol We usually say things like "God's will" more than "the Lord."

Mod's are position of authority, they enforce the rules against uncharitable comments, if they begin to classify things as uncharitable is is not crazy to be concerned. In those cases it is hard for us to tell the difference between Mod talk, and mods speaking as individuals. That's all my point is about that. Taking Cmom's advice I am no longer going to worry about it.

Yeah, I wonder why that is. Maybe they think "Lord" sounds more personal.

(Now that I think about it, it may have been his swimming instructor. Whatever, hah.)
