CreepyCrawler
I'm just curious what the Reformers thought Baptism did? Do they believe it washes away original sin or just that it is symbolic? I don't really want to debate, I just want to know. Thanks.
NewReformation
Depends on what Calvinists you are referring to. Presbyterians baptize infants as well as adults. They believe that the baptism of infants signifies God's covenant with His people. I'm not sure if they think it removes original sin or not, but I don't think so. Baptists believe it to be symbolic. Not sure about Lutherans.
Dave
Not sure about Lutherans.
I'm almost positive Lutherans believe the same thing as Catholics do about baptism.
God Conquers
Calvinists baptize infants as a symbol of the covenant, but no original sin is removed and grace is not bestowed.
