Yeah that and dark matter at 'Futurama'. The observation of a particle does not affect the particle itself, it only affects the observation, unless the observation physically interferes. If a thing is observed it appears as a particle in the same way as a quick look at the bus makes it appear stationary when in actual fact it will run over you a few seconds later.

Interesting stuff. It in some ways resembles the pyramid flow chart theory where what we can observe is missing the apex, which can only be explained by an infinite entity. (Argument for God.)
