ThePenciledOne
I don't think I have ever really let those who are my friends choose what I post. I have plenty that have probably unfriended me, but whatever. I post generally whatever, some Catholic, other's my thoughts and I end up having some debates, but then thats human interaction right? It's always a good time.
MithLuin
I don't post much at all on Facebook. Part of the problem is that there is very little I'd want to say to *everyone* on my friends' list. After all, it consists of: family (parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles), former classmates (going all the way back to elementary school), former students (yikes!), a handful of friends from the internet, coworkers, and friends. Some of these people I barely know. So, I don't avoid the overtly Catholic stuff, but I don't say a lot about faith, either. I'll respond to other people if they post stuff, gently defending the Church. But I try not to start fights; it's a social environment, not a debating one, and I am prone to debates. One friend's wife is prone to posting pro-gay, pro-abortion articles. I mostly ignore them. I know where she stands, and she knows where I stand; I don't feel the need to hash it out publicly. She is married and has a child, so whatever her views are on those topics, I don't feel the need to point fingers at her lifestyle. Neither she nor her husband are religious (of any sort).
That is pretty much how I am as well. I post pics of my cute kid, and occasional updates on what's going on with us, but for me facebook is not the place to start a big debate. I prefer to evangelize one-on-one, and make it a more relational focus rather than an in your face sort of thing. That's just not my style in general. Archaeology cat
I often post religious articles and blog posts, and quite often get negative comments, either directly on FB or via private messages. Unfortunately almost all the negative comments are from family. Prayers are appreciated.
cmotherofpirl
I have my friends divided into lists - kids and friends, gamers, phatmassers, family. Then I can decide who gets to see what.
HisChildForever
For those of you who get confronted by your statuses - whether people leave a comment or send a private message (which is ridiculous, by the way) - what type of status are you posting? A quote? If so, what kind of quote? About a saint? The Eucharist? Pro-Life? Or do you make your status more personal, i.e. showing support for a particular Church teaching (against homosexual "marriage", contraception, divorce, etc.)? I am just trying to figure out why some of us get such negative feedback. As I think about it, I often post quotes from saints or from the Scriptures. I cannot remember a single negative reaction. Then again, a good few often "like" those statuses, so maybe that keeps the negativity at bay? In other words, the person would think twice before being rude, because he or she would have a handful of Catholics on their tail. I am going to test the waters and post a pro-life quote to see what happens. I think that would receive more negativity than a Catholic quote. I just made this my status, unfortunately I had to shorten it for it to fit (I had to remove the opening question): ‎"The real question today is not when human life begins, but, What is the value of human life? The abortionist who reassembles the arms and legs of a tiny baby to make sure all its parts have been torn from its mother's body can hardly doubt whether it is a human being. The real question for him and for all of us is whether that tiny human life has a God-given right to be protected by the law—the same right we have." - Ronald Reagan

Unless I say something like I did a week or so ago, which was "amazing how productive I can be with a full night's sleep and a morning Rosary". That one didn't get negative comments. One of the private messages I got was actually complaining about how I'm always posting articles and not saying anything myself and therefore must not think about things. Unfortunately it seems some of my family were OK with me converting until they realised I actually believed & followed Church teachings. Maybe it isn't like that, but it seems that way at times. Again, prayers are appreciated.
yeap ditto. I mean, it's f a c e b o o k. If I really wanted to let my light shine, I would sign my lazy self of facebook and head down to the catholic worker or something. Although, I'll admit that the occasional article or quote is a welcome break from the updates on what my supposed friends are eating for breakfast or what color socks they're wearing. Brother Adam
I have such a wide variety of people that I know on facebook it isn't unheard of for me to be ridiculed (often by family members) for my faith, but it doesn't happen too often. It's best to simply show them that their attitude doesn't actually bother me (which is what they want) and I delete their comments if they go to far. zabbazooey
Ive lost 5 close friends over political views I have shared via status updates. Oh well guess we weren't that close. Now I never post anything remotely religious or political. Not worth the drama. Everyone on Facebook knows I am religious and conservative so no need to shove it in everyone's face in my opinion.
