vee
This isnt really vocation related so if the mods want to move I don't mind. Today I posted a religious status update for the first time in honor of my beloved Ignatius. I posted the Jesuit motto btw. I think some of my more religion hating friends and relatives might not like it but I'm not scared anymore. I'm not hiding my faith anymore. If they don't like it they can delete me and I'm ok with that. Pray for me though and all who read it please! Here is my question though and that is do you post religious stuff on fb and how have people reacted if you did?
laetitia crucis
I have various "groups" of people as facebook "friends"... they range from my university Honors Program friends that are generally super-liberal, to my theatre/music friends that also tend to be super-liberal, to my general Christian friends, to my uber-Catholic friends that tend to be more conservative. When I post religious things, occasionally I'll get "likes" or comments from my religious friends, and totally ignored by all others. So... nothing negative so far. I'll be posting the Jesuit motto as well in celebration!

dominicansoul
i tend to try and use Facebook as an evagelization tool. I have posted many religious statuses, started wars over my pro-life comments and been kicked off several friends facebooks because like the good super liberals they are, they can't tolerate Faith, Hope and Love... So, you shouldn't be afraid to hide your light....SHOW it and let it shine! Facebook is a great way to reach out to those who would never ever hear about the Faith... JTheresa
My response is similar to LCs, although I don't have such a wide variety of friends. I usually post some religious quote I read or a line from a Matt Maher song, or even about visiting tha sisters at the convent. My religious friends will like or comment, most others liberal friends or some friends from work just don't comment. Sometimes I get questions, but no negatives yet. KnightofChrist
I've got negitive comments before, not insluting but arguementive. Which for me is just fine since I like to defend doctrine against errors and misunderstanding. But good for you let your light shine, be willing and ready to be a fool for Christ.
That doesn't surprise me actually since I've met or just been around many wonderfully devout Filipinos. Dominicansoul and knightofchrist Keep fighting the good fight! I'll let you guys know when I make it to your level with the contraversial pro life etc status updates! Before I can run I must learn to crawl though LC and JTheresa since you're both entering do you ever post about that? if I knew I was entering for sure I'd have to decide if I'd tell everyone with one swift post or wait till I'd made the novitiate at least then send out cards or something! Starets
My facebook picture is me in habit. Most of the ones on my facebook contacts list are catholic anyway. The ones hat aren't catholic respect my faith. so its not a problem. Most of my updates are about my baking anyway!
loveletslive
i have all kinds of saint quotes on my facebook page, photo albums of me in rome, the march for life, hanging out with nuns, etc, and post saint quotes at my statuses quite often. the only negative reaction i ever got was when i updated my status about marching for life in DC and one of my athiest friends started an argument being a total jerk (of course, my faithful Catholic friends jumped in to defend life and the Church ) Edited August 1, 2010 by loveletslive
Hilde
I haven't done any religious updates other than test results to quizzes. Somehow I end up as things such as Catholic, Trad or st.Thomas Aquinas. Never gotten any neg comments for that.
Cherie
Here is my question though and that is do you post religious stuff on fb and how have people reacted if you did?
Sometimes I'll post quotes from Saints, or thank God for something, etc. Some people like, other people ignore. I used to post a lot of political things, but I stopped doing that since my husband works for the government now, and I don't want to cause any problems for him. I still post pro-life things from time to time, though - but I don't really consider that "political" per se. Don't hide your light! Who cares what people think? The Catholic faith is such a huge part of my life now - sometimes when I post something about modesty or whatever in regard to the Faith, I'll think about it later, like, "Hmm, I wonder what so-and-so would think of that?" But oh well. That's who I am, and I refuse to back down!

I do post about entering. Although, I didn't post about it until I had the "official" entrance date set. Then I put a little "countdown" tab on my profile page... hahahaa! It makes for a good reminder for me! Otherwise, I probably would forget how many days I had left! I'm not all that big on updating my status on Facebook... actually, I'm kind of a lame Facebooker. It's only somewhat recent that I've been a tad more active than normal. However, all of my friends are on it, almost constantly, so I like to see what's going on in their lives. Facebook helps with that. Generally, I post various Catholic YouTube videos. Or something I find funny or amusing. Ooooor a very happy green space llama. Hilde
Oh but I remember writing TLM FTW as a status update once, but that's too obscure for any nay-sayers to understand.
